Data deduplication
Stemming from the article, saying that KZ was originally 290GB, I think data compression will play a big role here. For instance, the game might require 40GB to run, but when the data isn't being used, the system prolly compresses as data gets older.
Well, it's a hypervisor-based environment. Everything likely caches on the on the main HDD.
I think Sony has more to gain by reducing the stock of the all black controllers. I mean, the colored ones just stand out more IMO.
As I was watching, I realized that the youtube video was higher resolution that all of the game's star titles. Because you know... X1... is all... about the...

...GAMES (next gen of course).
All this is is a catch-up update. Basically, the initial spec PS4's were finished awhile ago. Those will like ship with a version 1 software base. Sony has been optimizing the software since production began until release. Same thing for the X1. It's the same reason why most games typically have a day one patch.
As far as the difference between the two consoles, it seems that the "patch" for X1's have a activation/register function that allows the conso...
Yeah, Amazon ships it to their distribution centers local to the preorders and then ships them from there to the clients.
lol, it's actually same day shipping really although I'd imagine Nov. 15 is going to be "UPS Hell" here in the states!
I think it is more so that IW and MS is staying quiet on the subject for this console while its counterpart is confirmed 1080p. Typically in marketing, you want to advertise the good things, and everything else (usually negative) is left to discovery ESPECIALLY when you have direct competition. The competition in this case is a very-well marketed BF4. The silence tells us one of two things. The X1 version of the game is not going to be 1080p, and will either stay that way or the game is techn...
This looks pretty awesome aside from some of the minor glitches shown. It's evident IW put a lot of energy into making sure that the game is fluid while keeping the niche CoD feel. The only thing that's sad is that Activision continues to play it safe with these compressed textures, but then again that may be the result of the manner in which the X1 processes it's textures. It would be pretty cool if Sony and MS could make graphical upgrades to these games for their respective con...
Sure... Hopefully I don't get too many disagrees for this. lol
When they are referring to the dynamic frame buffer, they are talking about the ESRAM implementation. What happens is, first, compressed textures and graphical data is loaded into the 8GB RAM space. When specific data is needed it is decompressed and transferred to ESRAM which is then fed to the GPU.
Traditionally, v-sync was a GPU-only process that limits the frame rate to prevent screen tea...
JamPack demo disks that seemingly never got old!
Getting like 4 memory cards the following Christmas, and then cycling them out to find the right save!
Looking at the site, it seems the overall message is that it is just like the 360. Seriously, read the captions; more than half of them reference the 360. Nothing wrong with that, but it is funny considering they were going on about the PS4 being a super 360. Big marketing fail seemingly at every step here.
They could have gotten pretty creative with it. Like making it a display for virtual buttons, battery level, or even time. I think it was a cost, and possibly a durability decision. Either way, the current design is still spot on.
Well, let's be fair here...
Console games typically aim for 30fps because that is as much as the hardware will allow. The PS4 and X1 are a bit different because one of the "next-gen" targets is 60fps. Essentially, the PS4 and X1 may very well run into some tearing issues depending on the TV/monitor.
And, G-sync in a nutshell, eliminates tearing by eliminating frame lag at the highest frame rate possible for the provided hardware. This is going t...

I doubt it. EA put alot of sound research into past games like the Medal of Honor's, BF: BC2, and Crysis. I think this is just higher bitrate streams of the same research. In fact, I think they said that BF4 didn't even have a military advisor which is pretty common nowadays among AAA shooters.
For CoD in the past, while attention was put into sound detail, sound quality has never been that great likely due to the same recycled engine since CoD2. I'd imagine with ...

TV integration won't be too big a deal I think. Cloud computing and fast internet will ultimately be the key here.
Turk, I don't think you have all your facts straight. Maybe you need to do some research. I find it quite funny how little Ryse makes it into these retaliations anymore. I will likely be the best looking game at launch. Oh, and while we are talking about launches, when does HALO come out. BTW, I love playing Halo.
