Nah, he's right about the controls, and the gunplay feels very archaic. Aim is damn near impossible without a rifle too, hence the overactive auto-aim.
Went back and played RDR1 after and frankly, many of the mechanics and controls are still the same in RDR2, though I actually think it's easier to aim manually in RDR1.
That doesn't make it a bad game no, but it IS flawed.
