1. Nowhere near 9/10 gamers use headsets.
2. It's mostly meant for chat sessions, possibly other system features too. They outright say you should use a headset for longer MP sessions, but this could be useful in less intensive games like, say, Uno, or some of the co-op platformers where you won't be hammering buttons constantly.

Gonna disagree with that. That's what a reboot or reimagining is for. The concept of a remake is to tell this same story with these same characters through a new lens, not to completely change it, be on the nose about changing it, or push forward with something that's very, very different from what came before. That's not to say they can't make some changes, the RE2 and 3 remakes did that, but they still retained the core of what the original games were.
