Been playing halo reach again and I just played from the start all through new Alexandria in a single sitting. I can’t believe this game was running on 360 back in the day. This was my favorite halo campaign back then and still is now. Halo 5 campaign is so bad compared to this it’s ridiculous. But I do miss the excellent controls from 5. Keep wanting to jump jet clamber and side dash all day.
Of all my last 20 odd years of gaming. Last of us is stil my most favorite game ive ever played till date.
I’m glad people are enjoying the game but imo this isn’t goty worthy like god of war / last of us. I finished the game yesterday and I can say one good thing about this game is that now low roar is on my Spotify playlist. Id personally want re 2 to get the goty or control.
i looooved the witcher series, played each game to completion, this game is so not the witcher 3. Not even close to an apt comparison. Making decisions that shape story with side quests and combat encounters, branching paths that lead to character deaths. Witcher rewarded me for the time i spent. I feel like Sam when he himself complains about the tediousness of the gameplay loop.
The objective of chapter 10. After the tar pit. Omg yes. I have work , I have to manage my time, it seriously annoyed me. And chapter 13. Why isn’t it just a cutscene. Like so many odd design decisions here. It’s ridiculous and self indulgent in a way that a younger me would have probably loved but I’m too old and jaded now to have any patience for this.
oh man i did the exact same thing, doing the standard orders to level up to get designs is the worst gameplay loop to get stuck into in chapter 3, get out of the loop and focus on the main objectives, coz the gameplay loop of doing deliveries doesnt change at all, i stuck to delivering lost cargo which i found along the way to people that i was heading towards for main objectives, mostly after chapter 3.
i just finished chapter 10 , after the tar bit it asked me to do something insane and i'm so annoyed with this game, like wtf, i was about to throw my controller at the tv, I dont want to spoil it for anyone but anyone who did the mission after the tar pit knows what i'm talking about, I get that they want me to see the bridges i've made along the way but god damn, come on , i was seriously done with this game but i've nudged on till chapter 13 now but the game has worn out ...
Lol I was in shock when dan praised red dead 2 weeks ago on the beast cast. And Abby and Jeff has to shut him up to not break embargo. Say what you will of Dan, the man has no patience for slow games. I am waiting for the preload to activate. 7 hours to go. Can’t wait to experience the so called mess / genius that is death stranding.
Anyone thinking giant bomb is biased against Kojima, watch their metal gear scanlon series, it’s basically a love letter series to Kojima.

honestly didnt like black ops campaign as much, maybe i'm not a fan of the whole vietnam thing, but i did love the choices aspect of it tbh
Totally agree. One of the best cod campaigns in a long time. Tbf infinite warfare was also not terrible.
I beat this campaign in a single sitting, I’ve been playing cod campaigns since cod1 and United offensive, IMO this is one of the best cod campaigns since mw2. It’s really good. Well paced.
Anyone listened to the last giant bomb East’s podcast, the Beastcast , Dan Ryckert didn’t say it but he was praising red dead 2 (which he hated) when mentioning death stranding. Something tells me this won’t review well.
Since the price drop on ps now, I subbed for a year and I’ve been replaying killzone 2 streaming on my laptop and it’s decent. Curious to see how Microsoft handles the streaming future.

Enemy placements and the types of enemies played a huge part in the design. Not mention the end of the game. The boss fights were challenging and the characters were worth
caring about.

Why is that a bad thing. God of war was great. The skiff sections is essentially like the boat sequences. Only there for dialogue and character development.
im in the totaly opposite camp now, i feel they have finally risen above the previous games with gears 5, they're bold in their design and ideas, loved gears 5. Cant wait to see where they go after that mind boggling ending
I have a special place for Alan wake in my heart, even going far back to fall of max Payne. All special games. But I do find control to be head and shoulders above the rest. Not to say Alan wake max Payne 1 and 2 and qb are bad by any means. I just love the control. There is a confidence in their game design and level design that I’m in love with.
