Look...
I'll only say this... Last year MGSV came out... I played more then 120 hours of it. Wanna know what I remember from these 120 hours of play ? The most recurring memory I have is when I realised I have no other way to complete a mission objective, unless I have a kid-sized fulton to get that one kid off the tower near the ruins you fought Quite before in... And then I had to grind materials and shit to acquire it... This is the very first memory that jumps into my mind wh...
I sure would like to give them a chance.
With a new IP.
Not this Resident Evil which doesn't even resemble Resident Evil.
Fixed camera, third person, tank controls, fixed interconnected area, ink ribbons.
No ? Then better kill RE off, stop selling me a duck and calling it a chicken.
It's not about guns and combat. It's about a RESIDENT EVIL game not being in third person... It's about it not having even the slightest bit of 80's-90's B-movie shlock. It's about it turning from one thing into what is supposed to be popular today. That's what it is about.
Oh yes. God oh yes.
"But
Take
A Look
At THIS !!!!"
The real horror is that THE Resident Evil, the franchise which determined the further development of survival horror and gave birth to it's equally awesome (although in completely other way) competitor Silent Hill back in 90's is basically becoming the most fucking boring thing of them all - a goddamn First-Person horror walking/hiding simulator... Like any other one which came after fucking Slender...
Mikami-san... I need The Evil Within 2. Now. ASAP.
That's exactly why I said "second personality crisis", didn't I ?
Well, that's nice.
...I find it hard to see anything good in the fact that a pioneer survival horror franchise is reliving it's second personality crisis... Nothing is worse then the loss of personality for a game franchise...
In here is a tragedy...
Welcome to 2016.
You said "okay" to some of them in the past.
Now they are here to stay.
It's not about "Fixed camera and tank controls" making RE games good. It's about them having their own personality. And cherishing it above all else.
No video game series has a right to change drastically. If it does it leaves behing people who are expecting to re-experience this kind of game again.
For the statement of the director and all that I'll just say two things:
- Never in your life should anyone anywhere believe what creator...
Wh-wha ?
Sorry... I didn't ask for a pioneer surival horror franchise to become a First-Person walking/hiding simulator.
When I hear "Resident Evil" I expect Resident Evil, not Amnesia, not P.T., not Alien: Isolation or Condemned: Criminal Origins. I want Resident Evil. I want fixed camera, I want tank controls, I want really shlocky 80s-90s style gore, I want strange dialogue, I want fixed area with locked doors, keys, safe rooms, creepy piano music,...
It costs too much to include a realistic outcome from every kind of situation, so no.
That is why first Deus Ex, which was made from a pretty old engine with kinda garbage graphics for even the time it was released in will forever be the standard, because the less impressive the game looks the more you can put into it. That is why The Masquarade: Bloodlines, which is pretty garbage in terms of engine is such a good game RPG-wise.
Today's RPGs struggle very badly because...
Hahahahaha)))
As in... Make games that demand 20 years of development ?
I have been DREAMING of a good Tekken game on PC :)
I love this title.
It's like saying "500+ years later it's still chess."
Well, no shit, dude, I wonder what you expected from a good Worms game XD
Nobody needs 3D worms again. That shit was abso-fucking-lutely impossible to play.
It'd be really nice to see a old-school survival horror game for once... I am not joking here - I am absolutely unable to pick these first-person horror games apart any more.
The only two that are caught my eye are AGONY and SCORN, but they are interesting because of aesthetics, not core mechanics or point of view.
I have nothing against First-Person perspective, but it should not be a dominating power on the market of survival horror games.
Nope.
Unfinished fetch-quest with missing features and unfinished story is a masterpiece now ?
Good stealth game ? Perhaps.
Good overall MGS game with interesting narrative ? Nope.
Why go any other direction but your own ? It's Resident Evil, it always had a traditional route to go back to. And maybe degenerates who never truly loved the series would've started a riot, but I sure as hell would always welcome a true return to form for Resident Evil.
