7200r pms will give you very small performance improvements. The 320 GB I purchased has 16 MB of cache. Right now its not supported but hopefully with a future firmware update
You don't have to format the drive yourself. The PS3 will take care of it.
lol!
Ahhh .... we have two things in common. Our love for boody (booty) and owning multiple consoles :)
One strictly for Blue Ray and other media related functions. Already have the Blue Ray remote and am very accustomed to watching Blue Ray movies on my PS3
Blue Ray and upscale DVD
PS3 Media Server (mkv streaming)
TVersity (video podcasts, youtube, etc ..)
New Photo Gallery (a very cool app)
It will be my media hub!
This type of PR talk always leads to something. If they do announce a price cut, I'm buying my second PS3!
Excellent post! My only concern for the next generation is the tech push back possibility given the success of the Wii. It will be telling what the next PSP will be like. It will indicate the potential direction SCE is taking.
Haven't checked yet but will this fix address the bug where your trophies aren't displayed after synchronizing to a newly upgraded hard drive. I got a 320 GB sucker in there now and everything is in tct except trophies. The only way to get them back is to pop in your games one by one until you've synched them all.

Lololollolololol
Edit - Arby n' the Chief reference. No like?
Is this author really going to comment on a game that he seems like he hasn't played yet?
Good news! Insomniac delivers! I do think after this Rachet title, we might not see the little guy until the next gen. Insomniac should tackle other genres like action-adventure and survival horror. I don't think they want to limit themselves to shooters and platformers.
Sev ... no credit to your sources? No worries. I mentioned this in the other thread bud :)

MKV native ... maybe not. They do promote Blue Ray :) MKV on-the-fly transcoding through PS3 Media Server.
More updates on this firmware
- 3-D Secure Support: 3-D secure of credit cards are now supported (whatever that means).
- XMB Theme Support on Blu-ray movie discs. You can apparently download themes from BD movies. The first movie to have this feature will be "Pineapple Express".
- HDD game data can be deleted during gameplay if the HDD becomes full.
- Safe Mode. A warning is added to mention to "Restore Default Settings"...
sorry ... I'll stay with Sony official stuf
yes, another sensible N4G member.
A point I made when I bought the PS3 during launch was that I knew what I was buying and at the price I bought it at. It was not a matter of choice for me (having components I want versus need). I believed that Blue Ray was the next logical step after DVD and before Digital Distribution. I believe that having an HDD installed on every console made it easier for Sony to move into Digital Distribution. I believed that although the online infras...
On one hand, you could argue that any system lacks longevity compared to a Sony console because of past history. Just look at the staying power PSOne and PS2. On the other hand, you could look at this historically fron MS's approach to the original Xbox. It could be a swipe at the 360 hardware issues. Interesting how one word can be interpreted many ways. The Execs have been quiet for some time now. Something must be coming. Watch if the next few weeks are PR wars. This is going to be...
according to Skate 2 dev, there aren't
yet IGN doesn't mention frame rate issues like Gameplayer.

To be honest ... the only ones I care about are
Tomb Raider
Prince of Persia
MK vs. DC
LEGO Batman (love the LEGO games)
Saints Row 2
The differences are minor and something digital foundry can point out with the right tools.
