What a silly article, it was the cell processor that taught game developers how to code using a cpu with a gpu built in. How to make games using virtual cores/parallel processing. So no the cell processor despite its complexity, was helpful to game developers.

Due to the low standards of console gamers it just makes it harder for mainstream game developers to make PC games. For one there's multiple gamer cultures on PC. For me personally Deux Ex Human Revolution is the prime example on how to do a PC version of a mainstream game. Not just in performance and visual fidelity but also on actually having a kb and m user interface, and designed with keyboard and mouse. Also one of the rare mainstream games to offer multiple solutions to every mission even boss fights (deux ex human revolution directors cut only 😅). Oh my bad is it like a PC game then. Meaning the vanilla version comes out then as time flies the game gets new content, graphical improvement, etc. Similar to the original counter strike, team fortress 2, etc. If the game is early access then yes that's stupid.
Episodic gaming is great, if the story keeps you guessing and engaged. Traditionally, episodic games cost $25.00 = $5.00 per episode. Which I believe that's how Hitman reboot will cost

Lol full digital equals console gamers plus mobile gamers plus pc gamers. Able to play PlayStation games on any device, anytime, anywhere is where PlayStation/Microsoft end up. Getting all three audiences equal more money for the console corporations not less.
Xbox live becomes a multiplatform service. Able to play xbox games on any windows device including smartphones. There fix it for you
Today's consoles require 24/7 internet access. Geez, try updating/patching a game or system update offline. Oh you can't well there internet requirement for console. Try harder
Steam, GoG, origin , etc. have no issues pre download. There's no uniqueness to consoles anymore. Everything can be done on a mobile device or pc better than consoles
Service obviously, this is the last gen console hardware. Smartphones are already powerful as consoles, smart tvs offer the same multimedia capabilities as consoles plus samsung tvs have voice recognition commands along with kinect style maneuvering. PCs can be hooked to tv sets along with gamepads and sitting your ass on a couch. Is the end of hardware but the battle of software has begun
