Not every company is perfect. They all make mistakes and are making mistakes right now. Nintendo gets the brunt of these articles.
Nintendo - No third party suppport, console hardware
Sony - Vita, no first party games of substance right now
Microsoft - First party games, string of broken games like the halo collection

In 25 years, I am more confident that Nintendo will still be in gaming. I cannot say the same about anyone else.

At the very least in 2015, Nintendo has the single greatest library of games coming out vs. any other single companies output. Not unlike last year and the year before I guess.

I remember when Nintendo invented rumble, they got crap for not keeping the status quo, when they invented the analog, when they put portable gaming on the map.
Nintendo is innovative. Sometimes things hit, and sometimes they miss. I want them to keep being innovative.
The quality of the games is really not subjective when the review base for each Nintendo game is about 50-60 reviewers. We can draw pretty good conclusions.
As bad as Wii U is selling, it still has the best exclusive games that you can find on any system. What does that tell you about the purchasing base?

DQ IX on DS is the highest selling DQ ever in the West. Sold over 500k units. DQ is popular. Square has mismanaged it.

Nintendo for DQ XI makes sense for a lot of reasons
1) Wii U is still the number 1 console sold in Japan
2) Nintendo has partnered with Square on DQ before
3) 3DS DQ games have been very very successful.
Third party games have sold better on Wii U than PS4 in Japan. Stop being a fanboy.
Nintendo had the most popular E3 booth, there articles got the most hits. They pretty much won E3, you know, removing all the fanboy BS.

N64 made profit too. It did not sell as much as the PS1, but it had amazing games. I call that successful in a different way.
