Personally, I think that 3rd Person Shooters work very well, if not better on PC's than on consoles. The same controls that apply to FPS also apply to 3rd PS's, with the same benefits of increased accuracy, and speed. Look at Tomb Raider Legends or Star Wars Battle Front. It all depends on the implementation. Other than that Nvidia and ATI need to get their DX10 SH*T together, or MS really needs to get onboard and help them optimize their hardware and drivers. Having a crappy game be the hera...
Console games are short lived. WIth Mods, PC games have far greater replay value. Anyway, what game on any console has ever surpassed the best PC has to offer?
You mean Halo is the biggest game right? Don't worry no one is doubting Halo's ability to push millions of copies. PC gamers are doubting Halo 3's quality compared to the cream of the crop PC FPS. I personally don't equate popularity with quality. I'm sorry if my PC rants come across as somewhat elitist, but I believe that you get what you pay for, and with higher cost comes higher quality.
PC games are optimized for the full range of PCs from low to high, which is positive not negative.
PC's are still the best place for casual, RPG, MMO, FPS, and RTS games. PC just doesn't have anyone championing their cause. Just look at the revenue from Warcraft or PopCap games. Sorry if our version looks better, but thats what happens when your not constrained by static hardware.
I'm glad there will be no stat tracking in multiplayer. I think it will inspire much more teamwork and cut down on the lone wolfing to boost stats.
Not really, it's almost a foregone conclusion that PC FPS will always be better than anything on a console. Halo is just mediocre to PC gamers, just look a Halo 2's PC reviews. Oh and PC Multiplayer + Mods > Console Multiplayer.
We all know Halo will win as far as sales are concerned. But I have no doubt in my mind that Crysis will be the more superior game in terms of graphics and gameplay.
Thats what PC's are for.
Knowing them this game won't be released untill 2012.
What ever you do don't get Windows Vista. That card can't run with both GPU's in Vista yet, or possibly ever. Nvidia needs to get on the ball with these graphics drivers or I'm seriously considering switching back to ATI.
sorry but It doesn't get any better than Half Life 2 as far as single player FPS's go.
I can't tell if they are or not, but if DX10 has volumetric clouds, then DX9 is definitly beat.
By far the greatest game franchise I have ever played. Trumps every other FPS...period.
PS2 Self-Defense system Engaged!!!
I hope that was a joke...If not you have done nothing to allay my worries. Snake already has a voice and that is David Hayter, anything else is just going to be a cheap immitation
I'm not trying to rip on Halo, but I think it's a mistake to pre-order any game before seeing some actuall reviews.
You do know that Half Life 2 was released on the PC at the same time as Halo 2 on X-box. Episode One's only graphical improvement was HDR lightning and marginal improvements to the facial animation system, so these game are a logical comparison seeing as Halo 2 for PC received a few graphical updates as well. The real problem is that to a PC gamer the Halo franchise is merely so-so, it's single player was outmatched by games like Half-life 2 and Fear, and it's multiplayer was outmatched by ga...
Until broadband can reach every corner of the country, there will always be a place for physical media.
Good to see a little love for the PC.
