Meh, Mobile Software may be a huge thing, but it's a very fleeting audience it's being made for. One day consumers could do a 180 and turn to PC or console instead. That's generally what happens for people knowing what's good for their gaming selves.
It's not Sony's fault that the general public prefers toilet software, instead of actual games. Especially places like Japan is dominated by something that's not a Vita handheld.
Heh, that's not even a question that needs to be asked. I'm gonna pass on it, of course. Just like i've passed on the other more recent AC titles.
Ubisoft is simply milking this completely.
But the trend is to break things these days, instead of improving on what works with mechanics that adds to it.
I think you have the right gist of it. More and more companies are looking into said scams, in order to dig into people's wallets as much as possible. Even if games increased in price, this would still be happening.
I remember when skins and the like was simply added as unlockables to the game, or made available from the patch onwards.
No, it's pretty accurate when you think about it. The most common families are up in arms about it, whenever some nudity is being shown. Think of the children, the animals, etc.
With that said, i'm not surprised this is written by one of the old Gamespot folks. Mark Walton was generally one of those without a clue.
5/10 is obviously broken in the gaming world, at least when reading comments on here. The game on a certain console can't possibly be average, or lacking thought.
Mobiles can't even sustain battery for long periods of time, so how can you imagine it would ever handle some of the more demanding games on PC / Console? Is this the trend now? Repeatedly asking if Mobile Software is the future?
Dice's reputation has already been tarnished beyond repair. That's kinda what happens when EA absorbs you.
Because it shows what it could potentially look like, and what Nintendo will never achieve with what they currently have, and possibly theit future development as well.
Longer or larger games could also very well mean less quality content, which is what these games suffered from, or will in the case of Fallout 4.
Fallout 4's lifespan lies with the modding community.
Indeed, they get smarter and switch to where the quality time is.
@Kalkano, no, it isn't. An important fact to notice is that the T stands for Time.
1 - 3 Turn Based
4 - 9 ATB
10 - Turn based
10-2 ATB
11 - MMO
12 - ATB Evolved
13 - ATB
14 - MMO
15 - ARPG
Just a small correction, considering what the games over the years have actually been. This doesn't even count the spinoffs they've released, which is another matter entirely.
So when you actually look at it, the majority of FF's releases in the numbered line has been ATB games.
The decline definitely lies with X-2 and the changes made beyond. Those changes were not needed, and they could just as easily have done a Lost Odyssey ring system, or something else to spice it up.
Not all change is good, but you need a better perspective to see that. XV may fill Squeenix's vault with gold, but i'm just not interested in the casual KH crossover.
XIII-2 and LR are definitely not spinoffs, because they directly continue from XIII (which only got good sales because of FF's reputation).
Yeah, i found that out as well when starting with FFXIV. I always wonder if a certain day is a password change day.
Yeah, and only 5% seems to see the bigger picture as well, because if Vulkan is kept up to date and easy to use, DX12 will most definitely fall behind. Judging from most of the comments, people either have a limited viewpoint or a console bias.
He's not wrong, though. MS is intentionally limiting DX12 to Windows 10, while Vulkan is much more flexible (which DX12 is as well, but MS won't admit it). Developers themselves benefit more from the open nature of it, and the problem is just keeping it up to date.
If we see more Vulkan adoption than DX12, then we'll have a much larger userbase to support and developers will learn the tricks from others faster.
If you count count the MMO's, i think FFXIV's opening was pretty good. It may not count since it's an expansion, but Heavensward was not bad either.
