How is this new news? Yoshida confirmed this ages ago.
All Sony are doing is publishing the physical PS4 release. Everything else is on Hello Games. But I see what you're going for.
Not worried one bit. The patent owner has already stated he won't look to delay the game or have its released cancelled. It sounded more like he wants to share how Hello Games applied the formula to NMS to further it's future application in other projects.
I'm pretty sure all information in the article is months old, bringing nothing new to the table. Just saying.
OT: it's a shame Microsoft wasn't on-board with cross-network support from the beginning of the previous generation. If they had been we would probably have a vast supernetwork allowing cross-platform multiplayer across all devices by now.
@IIFloodyII
I do apologise, I was talking about DR3, not 4. Sorry for the lack of my clarification in my first post.
The difference is when a publisher pays to keep content already in development exclusive versus funding actual development of a title.
Point in case, Rise of the Tomb Raider - exclusivity paid for by MS to keep it Xbox console for 1 year. SF5 wouldn't have been made if it wasn't for Sony funding the games development (can't find link to back up Capcom quoting this fact).
MS likely have a similar permanent exclusivity with DR3, much like they have with Titanfall.
Same :)
It has its pro's sure, like getting one game across two devices, much like Sony's cross-buy getting console/Vita game for one price.
The biggest con, for me, is the price of digital games. Without all the rigmarole of dealing with physical copies, manufacturing, shipping, and retail, the prices should be much much cheaper for digital titles (this goes across all platforms, not singling out btw).
Been up all day for me in England.
Adam Boyes debunked that:

It's success last gen already made it worthy of a sequel/prequel.
No single game could force a player base to switch platform of choice. Games of the opposite platform could persuade someone to possibly pick up that system, but to switch completely? Nope. I'm happy with y PS4/PC combo, and, at present, there are no MS or Nintendo exclusives that would convince me to pick up a new console.
To answer the headline question, no. I played it massively already on ps3/pc and have no desire to return to it again. Now if Bethesda remastered Oblivion, with updated character models, animations, voice over, graphics, and online pvp arena matches etc then I'd be all over that like a fat kid on a cupcake.
It does look good. It looks like it could possibly become the VR equivalent of Rocket League.
From the released gameplay videos I know exactly what I'm getting into, and disappoint is far from that. Jealous Josh seems to be more disappointed the game isn't coming to his system of choice.
I'd put U2 at the top, closely followed by U4. Then it'd be U1, GA, then 3,
Cheers, you're a smart cookie :)
Does anyone actually know how cross platform would even work? Would it be a case of data being distributed amongst servers, or would one have to encompass the other to make it work? Plus do we even know what MS/Sony would want from the other in order to make it work?
Just saying, for all we know MS or Sony would want royalties or some money exchange from the other to make it work.
I'm all for cross network integration, but doubtful it'll be something truly intergrate...
Why is the article image of PSVR when it's about Pokemon Go?
