Reading these comments just goes to show how pathetic the large majority of the N4G community is.
2014 in general for me will be known as the like it or lump it year by the developers and publishers.

They've had their chances over the years and have continually blown it.
I got mine week one of release in the UK and 3 weeks after owning it stopped reading the disks properly and I had to turn it on an angle then completely upside for it to read the disks... Still works though to this day!

Specs have gone up yeah... But so have resolutions, fps rates 120hz+ and or multi screen setups for PC gamers.
Easily doing 1440p60 on BF4 and most a lot of other games which aren't Ubisoft... Last time I checked the consoles aren't doing that even with that "two words, 8 gigs" of RAM
A lot of GPU benchmark results now don't even have 1080p as a result anymore, because that's so 2009.

The biggest mistake which you failed to mention was MS buying large amounts of stock to keep Apple afloat, which in the noughties gave MS a bit of a kicking.
