A prime example of me wearing 'rose tinted spectacles' for this one, I'm afraid. I loved CRAZY TAXI on the Dreamcast back in the day so thought I'd slip into the PSN version with ease.
I found it all underwhelming and rather tedious.... Guess the memory DOES cheat, or I've been really spoiled when it comes to games lately.

If you want true 'REALISTIC' damage, one single (minor) crash would put you out of the race for good wouldn't it? But of course you seem to want that so you can cheat your way out with a 'rewind' feature.
As I said above, if you want that level of realism in your crashes, then the total destruction of the car & serious injury or death of the driver would have to be included. Too far? Well it's 'ultra realistic' so why not?
