Complete and total conjecture. Based on absolutely nothing. If these guys are already ahead (and they have a proven product) they would have zero reason to worry. Scalebound had an untested formula and they were behind at every turn. The guys behind State of Decay have a proven formula, and are likely on time when it comes to deadlines, like most people are.
This isn't an opinion, it's fear mongering.
Platinum made the game and sloppily didn't meet deadlines. Not Microsoft. Sony and Nintendo would be crazy to buy it if they could buy it seeing as how it would be a money pit.
They consistently didn't meet deadlines. Dream projects or not, clearly they were doing something wrong. They shouldn't just give them the rights "cuz they like it". That isn't a valid reason for anyone to own an IP. If they were working hard, I'd agree, but we have enough evidence to prove they couldn't meet deadlines on time, which is bad news bears for any development team.
The staff was right stressed and consistently didn't meet deadlines. Sony being around wouldn't change that. All companies have deadlines, Sony wouldn't go near it considering it would be a money pit from the start. Not to mention the workers themselves are stressed, too stressed to work. Sony existing isn't going to magically make the stress go away.
Then we have to go on about who owns the IP. And I honestly don't know who does. If Microsoft did, the ...
False. Nothing but false, biased BS.
Zero criticism against Microsoft is valid as you have zero facts as to what happened.
You have only a handful of facts to work with.
P only makes AA games on a AA budget.
M asked them to make a AAA game on a AAA budget.
Team lead is stressed, obviously having a hard time with work (after at least one delay for extra time).
So what can we pull from what LITTLE in...
Platinum games makes AA games. They tried a AAA game with a AAA budget. It isn't Microsoft's fault that they likely bit off more than they could chew and simply couldn't deliver. Of course we all wanted it to come out, but some people and some teams just aren't suited for certain tasks. Blaming the publisher when they probably aren't even to blame.
Worse? We have zero evidence for anything. Just assumptions. Some based off of nothing, like yours (wah, I...
What's cringe worthy is your stupidity. Of course I wanted the game to come out, but crying over deleted videos (marketing videos) for a game that isn't coming out? Get over yourself.
Microsoft canceled a game. Therefor they don't want to market it on their social media channels. So they remove it. Would be pretty stupid they canceled the game but left a bunch of trailers up for it, don't you think? But I can already smell the fanboy, I don't expect logi...
Going from AA trash to a AAA game with AAA standards and a AAA budget. Sounds like he bit off more than he could chew, his "mental health" being blamed on Microsoft is pure fanboy BS.
Right, Sony's presence would have magically made the game work. Platinum is not that great. And while I do think Microsoft had a part in this, pretending Platinum making a AAA game when they normally make AA trash was them biting off more than they could chew. Microsoft expecting anything from them was pure stupidity on their part. Microsoft should have left them with a meager budget and left them to make a simple AA game. AAA is clearly too much for them.
While there's tons of blame to put on Microsoft, I had zero confidence in Platinum. These guys sell quirky crap as quality crap. Quirky does not a good game make.
Microsoft, you have one goal this E3. Money hat. Buy developers. Buy IP. Start using the dozens of great IP you own and neglected over the past decade or two. You have billions of dollars, millions of fans and about 1 thing from each fan that we all want to see in a couple years. Somehow you only manage to sc...
Probably didn't want to pay the crazy Razer price when the stuff finally comes out. These guys have all of the prices of top quality products and have yet to release a single thing with any of the functionality of the top of the line stuff released these days. Not saying that excuses the stealing, but it's the only motive I can think of. They make bare bones, incredibly basic equipment (or borderline non functional 360 accessories) and expect people to pay damn near top dollar "C...
Kinda like how all of you are proposing that this isn't happening. Without proof. Google software sales. Compare the years. I'm not your dad, I don't need to hold your hand. Not to mention I can't post links. Uncharted selling well doesn't mean the industry is ok. Hardware selling well doesn't mean the industry is ok. Software selling well does mean that the industry is doing ok, and we don't really see that. We have exceptions, not rules. Square has been quoted s...
Digital sales are tracked by growth. We don't have solid numbers, but there is no way we have enough digital sales to make up for what's missing in retail copies. The lack of AA games, companies that are closed, and people that are laid off on a yearly basis tells us that things aren't doing that well. If digital was to somehow help, we wouldn't see these problems as devs disappearing.
2008 UK. about 86 million software units sold at retail. 2015 UK. Roughl...
Game "journalists" would never report it. Their jobs depend on spoon feeding you crap on a daily basis. Bringing up anything wrong with this industry is taboo.
If you don't listen to the news, you're uninformed. If you do listen to the news, you're misinformed.
I'd like to see the number without counting bundles. Counting games bundled in for free isn't a good stat. Sony and Microsoft are both guilty of this.
Software in 2008 in the UK 86.2 million units sold. 2015? 28. Yep, the market is doing fine..
I'd be quicker to blame the death of the middle market. Those games hardly exist anymore. We have big budget AAA and low budget indie. Nothing in between, and that made up a lot of sales back in the day. It's how a lot of IP got big to begin with, including Mass Effect. Hell, it's how Bioware as a whole got started. 3 dudes with a 100,000.
Wouldn't want any of these workers to go near Star Citizen. That game is a lie and they're just stealing money at this point. The game isn't coming out, not functioning anyways.
