I do enjoy that they aren't afraid to fiddle with the UI. I don't always enjoy all of the changes, but something usually gets better.

On N4G people are too stupid to notice that, as a whole, software sales are down across the board. But in terms of hardware Microsoft is outperforming the 360 (so it's doing well in that department, for a FACT). Sony obviously really outdoing themselves compared to the PS3.

These kids have no idea what makes a platform "relevant". The PS4 sells more hardware units and all of the sudden everything else is garbage. The Wii U and 3DS actively selling more softwa...

Easy argument to make I suppose. They arent free. BUT. Explain the stupid paid team chat app. Good luck finding anything reasonable there.

This system is supposed to be a hybrid of both home and mobile consoles. It does nothing well from either camp. That's the problem. The 3DS battery puts it to shame (honestly what's so hard about putting those batteries in. They work great). And it's power to play games struggles against current gen, struggles heavily against the PS4 Pro, and it'll be even worse when the Scorpio comes out.

I agree. They do make good games. 'When they make them'. But they don't always make games. And they make a lot of flops too. When it comes to anything hardware related they haven't had success with home consoles since the Wii, hardware units sold wise. And the GameCube, great games lineup. The 3DS does fantastic on both ends, but it isn't a home console. It's also really hard to mess up with gimmicks since you need a screen and controls to play what's on the screen...

Nintendo. Baby. Sell you IP. This console business clearly isn't in your blood. The talent must have left or something because this is getting stupid how bad their choices are.

Because it doesn't hold a candle to the 3DS and it's a lot larger.

Bragging is pointless. I use them for review purposes. So when I do have to give out a negative review or a positive one, people saying "Oh you didn't play this so you can't see how good/bad it is", I can cram the 100% down their throat and say I've experienced pretty well everything this game has to offer. Not very often I miss things in games as I don't like not getting something out of a game that I could when I've already paid for it.

@Sm00thNinja

DUDE. YOU ARE NOT THE AVERAGE CONSUMER.

Dear every idiot on N4G. You all seem to lack this fairly basic knowledge that YOU are the "hardcore" gamer. Most people that buy consoles and games? They aren't that. They don't come on N4G for a news fix. They don't pick 'Which' system to get a game on based on feature support like trophies, they pick A system to buy games for PERIOD, and generally neglect the other. I...

You highly misunderstand the modern consumer. In fact, you completely misunderstand.

You aren't average. You want a system for games. Joe Blow down the street wants to spend as little as possible and get as much as possible. It's why when he wanted a TV and Netflix he picked up a standard HDTV and an Xbox One/PS4. He didn't opt for the smart TV to make up for the Switch.

They do. A consumer will always take what's simpler. If a sales person, or even an online review mentions even ONCE that you can pick up an Xbox One or PS4, play a lot more 3rd party titles, have a somewhat established library AND use netflix all without having to switch devices or inputs? That person is sold. You are not the average consumer. You're a video game connoisseur. The average consumer just wants something simple that'll do everything at once for as little money as poss...

Smart TV's are becoming the standard just like 3D TV's.

Hint. They never did, never will. The TV is what lets you use your devices. Consumers have zero interest in having the TV replace the devices they love with wonky UI's, horrid speeds, and lackluster support. There's a reason why smart TV's sell so poorly. Nobody needs a TV that can play Netflix when they can get a cheaper TV, buy a console and get the FASTER Netflix support, plus dozens of other apps an...

And people honestly thought "achievements" was going to be a deal breaker for people. I can't think of a single person that doesn't use Netflix on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, or PS4. It's slowly replacing cable, it's a must on any system that can handle it. Not having it, even at launch. People aren't interested. Seems like a stupid thing but not a lot of folks want to turn one system off just to turn another on solely to use Netflix. People will stick what's si...

It doesn't sell systems. It never will. The "rare achievements" system on Xbox One proves it. If the PS4 had an equivalent we'd see the same pattern. The fact that the Switch doesn't have Netflix support at launch is more likely to keep people from buying it as Netflix is slowly becoming more popular than cable.

3324d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

Go look at the "rare achievements" system on Xbox. You couldn't be more false. A great deal of players don't bother with most of them.

3324d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

Achievements don't sell games. They never have. It's just a way of getting a handful of people addicted and stats prove that it doesn't work. Thanks to the new "rare achievements" system on Xbox, you can see that more than 90% of players tend to not give a crap about pretty much all a game has to offer. The instead stick to the one thing they like and don't fall away from it very often.

Right. That's what's going to tank this console. It's not the insane pricing on everything from the machine to the controllers to the games. It's not the pointless paid online. It's not the fact that the only game worth buying it for will be up for grabs on Wii U, and likely cheaper. It's not the underwhelming battery power. It's not the gimmicky crap from the Wii that didn't pan out due to horrid game support.

It's the achievements. Tha...

It doesn't make sense. Sony and Microsoft are both offering a lot of stuff in return as well, that often pays back what the initial cost was. Nintendo isn't offering that with the WORST online service we have available by leaps and bounds. 60 for PSN and Xbox live. Both of which I generally buy on sale for 30-40 each. Not going to bother getting anything from Nintendo when it's going to cost around the same. Especially when most of their first party games have nothing to do with o...
