To be honest with you, that strategy might not work for many new IPs or even lesser know games. This could intern doom new IPs, especially from new Studios. There are few games, that can be reveled, released within months and still build enough hype to be a commercial success. Gamers will also not be able say what games they are excited for for the next year. two years to be is the sweet spot. We will have games to play during the current and a lot to talk about for the next year.

You guys actually think devs are stupid enough to say they will not bring their games to a platform with 60 million people, just because Sony says no to cross play with MS? Really, no honestly really? Yes am sure some devs stopped bringing their games to Xbox 360 when MS rejected cross play with Sony last gen? Right? A game company is in business to make money and they are not going to leave out the platform with the most people.

Honest question, why would MS give a release date to a system that the government has not given the green light to go into production? It's a fact that a lot of government roles have not been filled yet, as trump has not appointed any, so one can expect things might not go as planned, so why not maybe give a release window rather than a solid release date, when some factors out of your hands can delay your product?
I don't see them asking you to celebrate it, but simply pointing out something that is new to the franchise. Plus to me, there is more to it, when you feel you have to give a negative reaction to something being pointed out. If a game has a female lead, I don't think twice about it, and I such as hell don't react negatively when an article points it out or even say it's a good thing. I look at the game and if it intereste me, I get it.
The reason it's key is mostly due to how some people react to seeing some minorities in video games
