It is called a place holder date. It is used to avoid leaking the actual release date by sellers like Amazon. Remember GTA 5 had a similar place holder release date last year until RStar released official release date.
Further, I have said in my original comment that even Sony couldn't give me a spot on date. All they said was, and I quote, " end of October ( my interpretation of Halloween) to mid Nov (my interpretation of Before-Thanksgiving)"

Can't really say. I personally called Sony customer care to ask same question (since Amazon has posted place holder date of 12/31/13). Folks at Sony said its somewhere between halloween to mid-Nov (definitely before TG)

2) You can not give it to anyone except those in your family
3) It has to control your mind once every 24hr. If you are going to friend's place, once every 1 hr.
4) It has to approve your "friendship" with other people at least 30days prior to knowing that person.
