Everyone already knew Hideo's tendency to create lots of cut scenes... he's a massive fan of film.
Everyone was trying to figure out what the game play was going to be like.... no one knew what he was going to come up with, so he didn't set any expectation there.

The problem happens when they say a game is free, but once your in they start charging you for every little bit or thing that will make the game any good.

They probably already counted you in one way shape or form just to beef up their numbers so they can tell their stockholders.
I suggest something like this 2 years ago for PUBG.
That way their too busy playing each other not realizing they've been kept away from people who just want to play the game.
