It runs when you leave the screen and its doing its bit for science.

I mean look at what happened on this generation.
1. You have to put in a whole lot of money to develope a new product from the ground up.
2. You have to get developers creating games before they even know if the thing is going to sell.
3. You have to start the game library all over again.
So I'm not surprised that all 3 companies would want to put off rolling out the next gen for as long as possible.
The finished product was sitting on the shelf for a year while Sony was waiting for the licences to come through for the BlueRay player.
Makes you wonder what would have happened if they released it a year earlier?
I don't think waiting another year would have made the changes you suggested.
First off the main thing that causes the limitations on what they put into it is the cost of producing it. The big cost items are the Cell and the BlueRay drive. At the start of production the cost are always going to be higher, so it does not matter if you start now or later, you will still get these high costs.
Also waiting just one year wouldn't have caused Sony to put more Ram in. The cost would n...

I guess its all down to your personal habits to how much space you need.
I've got the 60GB drive, and still have a ton of space left on it.
I'm sure this will change over time when more software comes via PSN and other services like downloadable TV come on line.
But by the time these services come round, I'm sure there will be better drives out there to use by then.

lair and heavenly sword could have been better, but they weren't bad games. It takes more than 3 games to sell a system and at the moment with the untrained eye if people go into a store they will look at the libraries of software and see more games for the 360. Of course this will change, and a lot of people will get both systems 360 one year and PS3 the next year.
Once the games in development come out and stop all the delays I think things will look a little different.

Don't ya just love it when companies leave it to the consumer to choose what they want.
However they will only get to see HD films with it.
At the end of the day what makes a console a console is the standard design so that anyone who has one know that any game for that system will work on it. its the one thing that puts consoles ahead of PCs, because PCs can have 101 configurations and usually most peoples system won't get the best out of the every game.
Now if MS or Sony start playing round with the configuration of their console so that only some owners can play...
Its sound to me that while they are having problems witht he programming to get it ready on time and on Quality, at lest they are working on it unlike many other companies who seem can't be bothered.
both systems do have their issues, but at lest the PS3 problem just seems to be the learning curve.
The 360 version is restricked by the hardware, but they can fix that by either 2 ways. force everyone to get a HD-DVD drive or cut down the number of languages on the CD.

the industry is alwas looking for way to push the speed of processors to go faster. If you look at PCs these days, you can see 2, 3 and now even 4 proccessor all rolled into one. So where exactly does gabe think the industry is going.
