Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy UC2, but i'm pretty sure the rest of us 1 million++ gamers enjoyed it tremendously and yes, i think it safe to say it is an obvious choice for GoTY.
You are NOT the only one who have played both UC and gears, and just coz you prefer gears DOESN'T mean it's a 'better' game. To me, gears is the one that is way overrated, craptastic story with cheesy characters that no one cares about and gameplay that DOES nothing original(you can say that for UC...
it's my favourite PSN game (this and WipeoutHD).
i can't tell the difference between 60 fps and 30fps. The only time i notice them is when the framerate dips below 30, and that doesn't happen often (esp. for 1st party games).
Fighting and driving games definitely need 60FPS no doubt, but for everything else, locked 30fps is good enough if it means i get UC2 or KZ2 gfx standards
will definitely help me in deciding whether to get this game.
Was a huge RTS fan back then and it was the PS1 that pulled me into the console world.
Each and every Playstation platform(PS1,PS2,PSP,PS3) delivered beyond my expectations and Sony always pushes the industry to a whole new level every gen. Without fail.
When Kaz say that Sony is the industry leader in innovation and risk-taking, every cell in my body agrees with him.
It's hard not to when you look at games like FF7(imagine it on cartridge),GT1,ICO, SoT...
unfortunately, thanks to those critics, damage is now going to be of higher priority...
and it will only get worse with Activision jacking up the price of MW2 and 10 million+ COD fans who refuse to play any shooters that don't have the COD name on it.

VG should at least TRY to be more original with Dante Inferno. Deadspace was criticized slightly for that too, but was largely forgiven thanks to the fantastic and original atmosphere. There were some innovative touches too, i love the zero HUD system and the spinal hp bar thingy.
Might give it a go in the end, but the release date is too close to GOW3 for me.

mentioning Facebook and Twitter as some kind of exclusive feature is absolutely retarded. Those services are free in the first place and using them to justify the cost of Live is nonsense.

my sis was telling me the other day that she rather watch me play UC2 than make a trip down to the cinema for an actual action movie.

I enjoyed LBP a lot and i still play it time to time esp. when my cousins visit. But KZ2 deserves the title more imo, best FPS i've played.
