I played mine for almost 12 hours straight yesterday. It's silent and does not overheat at all. My PS3 and laptop run much hotter than that. No red line of death so far :p The only thing I can say is I had trouble gettng it online for about 10 minutes or so on its first boot. I rebooted it and it connected fine.

I honestly don't know how long it would take them to write the blu-ray software but probably more than a few days. Simply adding a little feature to some very simple software at my workplace takes forever. You code for 5 minutes and it needs to be tested and approved before you can go ahead with the software update.

My guess is they did something along the lines of the Snake Tales from MGS2 Substance. A made-up side-story of Snake having to rescue the DARPA chief in the MGS5 setting.

We don't know if Ground Zeroes is on par with the Tanker mission. That's just speculation at this point. I'm hoping it's bigger than that. At least a good 4-6 hours campaign. You can go through the Tanker or Virtuous mission in under twenty minutes if you skip the cutscenes.
It's not just a skin, though. There's an entire mission but yeah. My mind wasn't exactly blown either.
They may have had copyright issues with the mp3 format which could have set them back. From what I remember from my first year of college, mp3 is a proprietary format and has a lot of patent issues.
I agree that the part about blu-ray movies is surprising but why would they choose not to include that?
Anyway, the point is they needed to assemble the consoles before the firmware was completed, like stevehyphen said so it's possible the software responsible...

I don't think it's another Metal Gear game. Kojima will want to build more MGSV hype before announcing another one.

Yep. Metal Gear was on MSX first and the many sequels, remakes or ports were on Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft consoles.
It was strongly associated with Sony for good reasons though. MGS1, 2 and 3 came out on PS consoles first. MGS4 is still PS3-exclusive (though I'm sure that'll change soon.) Peace Walker was also a PS exclusive until the HD collection came out.
But then, the MGS4 sales were unimpressive considering development costs so I believe that...
About the Kojima announcement, he said it was MGSV-related so unless you pilot Jehuty in MGSV I don't think it has anything to do with Zone of the Enders.
Plus, Kojima is producer, not director of ZoE so it's not really his baby either.
Nice. I hope they'll correct the many bugs along the way as well. Awesome game but sometimes it glitches like there's no tomorrow.
