But I agree with you nonetheless... most people are unaware of this, might decrease the sales just a little bit, but not significantly.
yeah, your 40gb uses a 65nm chip. This one uses a 45nm chip which is quieter, and cooler.
The thing with ps3 is that it gets loud after continous playing. It
makes no noise at all when you boot it up and you're at xmb screen.

I have a cooler for my 360. It really does help cut down on the heat. Its a little bit more noisier, and it turns on at random times when my 360 is off, but I'll take that rather than risk getting rrod.

They can charge a little more for Modern Warfare 2, because they know that they're not going to lose many sales just for making the price go up on a good game, but the thing I hate about game prices rising is that it makes consumers more selective of what they buy, and they won't buy many games, they'll just get the the really good ones.
You have to give the ps3 some credit as a "superconsole" too. It sells well even though its more expensive. Its the feature packed console, so thats why people today will buy it. Think about who is buying the next gen consoles today. If you haven't already moved on to the next gen, your not really a hardcore gamer. The people who buy it today are very casual gamers and they either get the console that their friends have, or get the "superior" console, which in the average ...
In my opinion, the Pro was the best SKU, not as horrible as the arcade, and not as expensive as the elite, but the perfect sku of the 360, and probably the one that's in most homes right now, so if they discontinue this without a price cut, it makes no sense.
Sony's been selling despite being at a higher price point, and having a lower install base. This might be justified because of killer exclusives or a more feature packed system.

That's assuming the consumer has friends with 360's, or just wants to buy a cheap console just to play this game.
It could easily act as a system seller for the ps3 also. If you have 10 friends that have ps3's, are you going to buy 360 or a ps3?
I'm a COD fanatic, but I don't get why people would buy the prestige version, way too expensive imo...maybe the night vision goggles are what are selling the prestige version?
come on... did you see the lilac psp tv ad? The color might be good, but the size is so unattractive to the target audience.
A lilac psp go would work much better than a lilac psp3000.

And also, lets say store X opens up and has 20 ps3's and 20 360's. 10 ps3's are sold, while 15 360's are sold. Sony says they sold 10 ps3's. MS would say they sold 20 360's.

I'm on my second... first one rrod because I was just careless... still on my second one from 2007 because I really took care of it, and I also bought an intercooler which helps a lot.
