apple can afford that attitude (very cheap prices) cause they have more revenue streams and cheaper budgets for their titles.
Also, part of the cheapness may have been as an effort to woo gamers. It probably wont last long.
The go has high prices for software AND hardware. Its a bad combination.
Sony has to choose one
Ipods may be expensive, but the games are very cheap - part of the reason may be that ipods have more revenue streams than the PSP.
the pricing of psn games have gotten cheaper though, and you can put the games on up to 3 systems - so i guess you can purchase collaboratively and prosper a bit.
Agreed - the gaming industry needs to have more confidence and stop looking to others define or approve of it.
Last time i checked, i believe that the gaming industry was a bigger revenue earner than the movie industry.
Even if this is not true, why is it so important to get approval from these people? i don't understand. they are a competing industry - they will never admit to being inferior.
With Kinect, MS have effectively launched a new console as far as game development/publisher support is concerned.
Why make a game for 2 million people when you can make a game for 40 odd million?
i see a lot of arcade games but not much else.
After looking at the chameleon demo i can't help but imagine a spiderman game using move controllers
EDIT: Also Condemned series would be a good addition.
the beginning reminds me of alan wake
You have a good point.
However, if you look at sales charts, the US region is the only region where the PSP does poorly at the moment.
The Reason - IPOD touch and iphone
So yeah, they need to get a phone out for gaming in the US. They are fine everywhere else
If you look at Gamecube sales, you can argue that they did not have much of a core to begin with.
They were forced to go after new consumers and it worked out for them.
The question now is the dependability of those consumers.
I think the core push is in preparation for their next console.
In a way, the impact of the WII will be determined by how well its successor does and how many casuals return.
Motion controls appeal to casuals
$400-600 consoles do not (especially when the controller is sold separately)
it made no sense having it earlier
What if they could add the emotion engine to the phone somehow?
I agree, PSP go with phone capability, touchscreen and apps could be a winner
@MorganX
No Doubt that price is a factor, but as MS discovered, a variety of content is also required for mainstream acceptance of a console.
Like it or not, shovelware sells consoles.
MS and sony are moving to remedy this as their consoles approach the casual price point
@Parapraxis
Yeah, i agree - what people fail to realize is that part of every dollar earned by blu ray belongs to the PS3 - which makes assessing the success of the console near impossible
As soon as Blu-ray was adopted over HDDVD, the PS3 was a success
agreed
i want that, sonic adventures, toy commander and crazy taxi
i'd take powerstone 2 as well if it had online support
Toy commander level design was awesome
The Controls were not great though
I still want it along with both powerstone games and skies of arcadia
The Condemned series might be good with move as well
Still doomed /s
come on sony - make those sack boy dolls this time
if they had done that they would have split their market, and pissed off their existing customer base.
