Native and upscales resolutions aren't the same thing at all.
In order to output a native 1920*1080 progressive image, you need to have the hardware powerful enough to resolve images of that much pixels.
Upscaling has NOTHING to do with native output. Upscaling is just a trick. It doesn't creates pixels magically you know. If the image has the number of pixels of a 720p, upscaling it won't make the image have has much as pixels as a 1080p one. It just creates an illusion...
May be my bad, but i've never seen reliable sources stating Sonic and Blue Dragon are in native 1080p. If you could give me some, it'd be cool.
That said, once again (and MS quietly avoided that question in the IGN interview) the fact that it goes through VGA or component screws it up. Most of 1080p able TV's can't take 1080p via those cables.
And once again, why would they have to make a patch to enable a 1080p NATIVE support ?

We have yet to see a native 1080p game on the 360. And... hmmm... that's not what i'd call an unbiased source lol.
I guess that the famous 1080p update just unlocked the Ana upscaler chip. MS is very good when it comes to unlocking functions that are already in its hardware or sofware. If the 360 was really able to output 1080p natively, why would a patch be needed ? Makes no sense. It can or it cannot. It's a matter of hardware, not software.
There's a whole world between upscaling and doing it natively in terms of hardware capacities.

Back on topic, all those "PS3's do not sell" stuff is pretty funny. Last time i checked the PS3 got its best sells in Japan. What do some photos in shops prove ? I could take photos of shelves full of 360's. What does that mean ? it doesn't sell ? Shelves have just been replenished ?

Obviously the only point of having 1080p enabled is to have a HUGE tv. I'm not completely sure it would look that different from 720p on an average tv, say 32" or so.

Japan has the lead when it comes to electronics stuff. They got things that we see coming like 2 years after. So i'm not really convinced that they don't have very competitive products for the iPod, maybe even before it was out. The first xbox provided very few games that the japanese public likes. So they never bothered buying an xbox. The 360 suffered from this reputation, and for over a year it didn't provide games that japanese players like either.
