PS3 has a lot more freedom than any other console in terms of what you can do with the system. There's alot of minor things about the PS3 that make it superior to the 360 when you examine both systems interfaces and research them online.

It's because Xbox live was the first console online system that came out. Back then, PSN didn't exist and occasionally some PS2 games did have broadband support.
You didn't really have a choice back then so thats why paying 50$/yr seemed okay at the time. But since PSN was released as free, now many people can see how screwed they are getting with Xbox. At first inception of Xbox live the pricing was basically as follows:
Was anyone else bothered by the fact that they removed the shop and inventory management system and replaced it with generic class slot upgrades that do barely anything in terms of stats?
Also, why did they remove alt costumes from use in the campaign? This is the one of the first RE games to not have alt costumes in the main game. Mercenaries has it available, but it's still BS

One thing I wanna add is that MS back in 2001 was good because back then PSN did not exist and the only good online service around that time was Live. So you were forced to pay to play online. No silver accounts back then.
Nowadays, Live has a serious competition against sony because PSN had the same features that live has only your not forced to pay.
