The Wii is too much of a bargain for casual gamers. They would make up the bulk of the gamers market.
But eventually they'll be looking for a next gen fix and when that happens lookout. A certain console will have by that time a large & diverse library of quality games as well as a matured net service and of course will be more affordable and worthwhile to buy.

The Ps2 was not. It was a different more complex design with h/w limitations that require a steep learning curve. Look how much trouble GG had with KZ which was meant to be a PC game.
If you mastered your programming skills on a PC then you wouldn't have too much trouble learning to program for the Xbox.
The Wii is meeting a unique market niche at the moment - price, gameplay. But its old gen technology will eventually catch up to it once the next gen consoles build huge libraries of AAA games and reduce their price.
Many gamers are likely to have at least one next gen console + the Wii so it will do quite well this generation.

If certain developers are NOT WILLING to put the time and resources in to achieve the best results(eg Oblivion) on a particular piece of hardware(eg. Ps3) then there will be differences(eg Madden on the Ps3). So why comment? There's clearly going to be differences.
The fact is, all the games can be ported to either of the next gen consoles. How well they turn out depends on the developer not the hardware.

The future of game controllers is the Wii-like controller - the two handed, motion sensitive with rumble. A light gun function would complete the NEXT GEN CONTROLLER as you could use it as a gun and for quick aiming like a mouse.
