They're more like fallback plans in case the Wii U does take off for its features. Sony had motion technology developed for years (same with Microsoft I would assume) but only rolled it out once the Wii proved it could be successful.
Imagine 3rd party developers skipping PS360 consoles only because they weren't able to support a 2nd screen
I'm sold on $300, anything more and I'll just wait it out for when the games I want come out.

I'm sure it depends more on demand. If cloud becomes popular tomorrow they'll work to put it on PS3s, if it's something they expect to grow tremendously next gen then PS4 it is.
Same thing happened with the Move, although they had been developing it for years, they didn't implement until the Wii proved it could work.
Well, Iwata wasn't going to say "the competitors will offer better graphics than we can" of course. Even if their main consoles were still the GameBoy and SNES, he'd NEVER say that.

Software sales (and hardware too as of a couple years now) give insight into that, as far as people not playing they're Wiis anymore.
It's shameful stuff like this is still controversial.
I really hope the Ouya does find great support as I'm sure I'll be getting one, even if it is for the novelty.

Probably a cultural thing I'd say. I'm pretty sure Iwata doesn't see it as a weakness and more of direct way of communicating with the community.

My problem with Xenoblade was the voice acting, I didnt like it at all, and if The Last Story's is similar then sad story bro for me.
Japanese dubs are great, guess I shoudlnt complain and be happy with a localization.

Hopefully it's a proper localization, unlike Xenoblade.
Hopefully they put that extra money into some marketing campaogn for their device, doubt they have enouh for TV ads though.
The Xbox was the most powerful of the 3 last gen.
