I disagree with Bioshock's final battle/ending and OoT's water temple.
But mining in Mass Effect? F*** that. Every Mass Effect game has that crap, just implemented differently with each entry. And don't make me start with DA: Inquisition's War Table, requisitions, rift sealing, shard collecting, and every other nonsense the game throws at you.

I don't know just how blown out of proportions those exclusives were back then, since the Xbox news section was not of my interest, but I do remember the "PS3 is doomed" articles, and the bots trolling in those.

Umm... Lack of money? Also, there's little to differentiate the PS4 and Xbone in terms of exclusives, in my opinion, and I already own a PS4.

These guys canceled the PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360 versions after taking money from supporters of such versions through Crowdfunding.
So, regardless of the quality of the game, which I hear is decent, I just can't imagine myself supporting these thieves' products any time soon.
And here I've been waiting for GT7 ever since this gen started. Welp, I suppose this'll give me a reason to get a PlayStation 6, because they'll probably end up releasing the game for it at this pace.
I really envy Xbone owners sometimes... And I'm NOT supporting Project Cars developers. Those guys are the worst.

Just out of curiosity. I would like to know your reasoning behind that opinion, as I don't really see how certain story driven games could benefit from Naughty Dog's story pacing style. Example: Bioware games.

To me, U2 comes on top with U1 a close second. After that I like Golden Abyss, mainly the second half of the game. U3 though... It's kind of fun, I guess, but the story pacing is a mess and I think it takes itself too seriously, which was never the point of the franchise. Also, it has too many stiffly scripted action sequences.
I'll get U4 at some point this year.
I honestly don't get the obsession with making every game open world lol. Reminds me of when SMG2 came out, and some gamers here demanded an open world Mario game instead.

I actually read the comments everytime after checking the articles just to get a laugh at these cliché self-entitled and hateful "gamers" who would rather complain about games they don't even own or consider buying instead of actually playing video games, let alone living their lives, however sad they must be.

With GOTY 2014 Bayonetta 2, I'd argue they're at the top of their game right now, and more than able to make excellent action games.
