Nice post, exactly spot on. It's not that you CAN'T do ray tracing without specialised hardware, but it's usually much, much, much slower if you don't have it.
So you won't do it.
Unless next gen consoles have specialised hardware acceleration for it then they won't use it, at least in the majority of games. Console performance is always about compromise and if an effect is inordinately expensive (i.e slow) it is rarely used, or us...
You don't need a monster machine to run the game as good or better than Xbox One X.
It's not like Xbox One X has a lot of owners on this site either. In terms of overall console market share Xbox One X owners are tiny single figure percentage.
120m+ people have regular PS4 or Xbox One consoles, a few million at most have an Xbox One X. That's it! Microsoft don't provide separate model sales figures. However since Xbox One X launched Micros...
Great big hot mess of garbage. Pass. This was supposed to be one of Xbox One's killer exclusives for 2019 as well.
Think back to 2013, when Microsoft shipped out this underpowered, overpriced console and talked a load of crap about 'power of the cloud' around games like this. Over 5 years later and this is what we have to show for that nonsense.
Horizon Zero Dawn is just a better IP. More potential. More unique. More memorable. Killzone is an established FPS name, but the market is saturated with games of that type. It can rest for a while and return next gen maybe.
So your definition of innocent is 'not attacking' (presumably directly militarily) another sovereign state?
That is a miserably flawed assertion of innocence if that wasn't obvious.
Go and find out who supplies all the support for Hezbollah and Hamas, among others.
No country is completely innocent if you decide to view history through a lens. Iran is absolutely no exception, certainly dirtier than average in recent decades...
I would sell my Xbox if I wasn't so lazy and needed money. Nothing good to play on it that I can't play much better on my PC.
The game looks empty. Just look at the ground on any of these shots, where the player character is on top of the building. No detail, no life, nothing happening. Totally unimpressive to me. It better play fantastic, because it's looks so underwhelming and so delayed.
Iran innocent

"I could just as easily say worst version is always PC as long as you have a typical pc."
Nope, you can't. The game has minimum specs, which will run it better than an Xbox One. Actually the minimum specs call for a 4 thread Intel Core i3 and a Geforce 750Ti, a combo which has proven by Digital Foundry to be able to outperform PS4 in a lot of titles as well.
Not too up on PC gaming I see Babadook7.
According to the Steam s...
Nonsense post. Best version will always be PC, as long as you have a decent PC. It doesn't have to even be particularly amazing as this game only runs at 1920 x 1080 maximum on any console!
If you have a machine that can do better than 1080p and 60FPS on this game you have the best version, better filtering, better shadows, more resolution. A GTX1060 3GB OC (don't even need the faster 6GB card) can do 60FPS at ultra settings on this game in 2560 x 1440!

1070 beats down Xbox One X, never mind PS4 Pro.
You claim: "Next gen consoles will be far more efficient than PC."
They won't be far more efficient than a modern PC, this isn't 1998. They have a slight advantage in terms of optimisation, but not huge. Just look at the performance of Xbox One X versus a PC with an equivalent GPU, the Radeon RX580. Their performance is extremely close indeed.
What's more next gen consoles will without doubt be quite a lot slower than an RTX2080Ti. T...
The game looks incredible and the first time I saw it I knew it was going to be massively demanding to reach those higher settings.
It's probably close on to a next gen game with the RTX features enabled to boot. I doubt you'll see many console games on next gen consoles look better while targeting 60FPS and that hardware is still likely at least 18 months away.
They won't be faster than an RTX2080Ti which is recommended for 4K 60FPS, in fact ...
GTX1060 and decent quad core easily runs >60FPS at 1080p max settings. 4K and 30FPS also possible with this kind of card. The game is very undemanding and easy to run.
Wat? How big do you think the discs of PS4 and Xbox One are? They are still only 50GB. Now look at how many games there are with multiple discs using over 50GB......not many. Digital sales will also only be more prevalent for next gen. Less physical media sold anyway.
Go look at the price of a 64GB SD card. It's like $10 at retail! Probably $3-$4 at wholesale volume to publishers buying 2 million of them to launch their game, and that's now in early 2019.

It could have been soooooo good with more effort. It should have had the hardware to emulate in at least native 640 x 480, honestly this isn't that hard to double from most original games running 320 x 240. A chipset from a low end phone can do that these days. PSN support, enough space to download (and buy) more games as and when they are licensed and tweaked to work well. 64GB of storage costs about $5 at wholesale, and would probably fit 80+ PS1 games inside.
If the ...
It's possible to do 90s and early 2000s movie level CGI in real time fairly easily now. Kingdom Hearts 3 showed that Toy Story has been surpassed by a console game in many areas. Instead of rendering one frame in a day like Pixar did in 1995 you can render 30 similar frames in one second. https://www.eurogamer.net/a...

I remember when PCSX2 ran like shit. The fact it ran any PS2 games at all was pretty incredible. Now you can run the vast majority of PS2 games extremely well, far beyond what a PS2 could ever dream of. It's a fantastic way to play the old PS2 collection.
People are blase about this PS3 emulator, but to get this level of compatibility already for one of the most complex consoles ever created is INCREDIBLE! It's amazing to even start this tier of software emulation i...
The most demanding PC games always have quality settings far beyond that of any of the consoles. So you can lower the settings from their maximum and still be well above console settings, and hit 4K 60FPS on a PC.
If you are happy with console settings but want 4K and 60FPS it's not that difficult to reach and you don't need the latest super powerful card like a 2080Ti. Generally a GTX1080 will manage it.
For example Horizon 4 is just a console ga...
You can't buy a console that does what a PC does.
I mean that's the correct perspective here.
PC costs more because it does more. Like.... A LOT more.
