It's hard to ignore the years of hype but even if you can judge the game solely of its own merits - it's bland and feels old.
It felt like it.
It had failed to serve its purpose of promising some tech to catch up with PS4 so it got a very soft release at a time when eyes are turning to new consoles.
They have done it for 35 years or so already. Nintendo are just amazing at making system-sellers.
