I think it has something to do with the supply strategies. Every few weeks x1 catches up to the ps4, then suddenly ps4 gets a surge of a large supply.

I think the one thing the author ignores is the pay wall of xbl and that ps3 was the streaming box of choice. If Sony continues to only place Sony things behind ps+ pay wall, it can pan into a better media box than xbl.
He also mentions the install base of the wii without mention of the extremely low attach rate.

I worked at gamestop the last two years, and the number of people saying, "this is the 2nd/3rd/4th/5th xbox I've bought" VASTLY outnumbered people saying that for PlayStation.
I'm not sure how dimming will affect these results, but someone already tested a dualshock 4 with and without the LEDs.
So for those of you saying the LEDs don't use much battery, it impacts more than you might think:

Yeah, I still don't care for how they forced "Kinect voice commands" vs just any old microphone voice commands.
It's our fault as gamers. Games like fuse and remember me that don't score and sell that well are disappearing in favor of the safe games. Yearly iterations and sequelitis are the big money makers anymore.

Server browser + user servers.. I don't know why we got rid of them... I played ut99 for a decade off and on.
If you had read the post in it's entirety you would have known about the $50 upgrade.
The price of the upgrade seems about right to me as buying the $50 one gives basically 40 more tracks, cars, everything.
