At the time the PS3 launched in November of 2006 the 360 had only sold between 7-8 million. We all know Microsoft said they had sold 10 million consoles by the end of 2006. But the reality is that they channel stuffed thier consoles and the actual number they were claiming was shipped not sold. In fact it took them a few months into 2007 just to sell all the consoles that were sitting in the retail channel.
As it stands right now the the 360 is still ahead of the PS3 by 5-6 mil...
I have to disagree. Bottom line is the PS3 was supposed to launch 3-6 months after the 360. But because of the shortages for Blu-Ray laser diodes and finalizing the HDMI 1.3 spec, the PS3 was delayed. Coupled with shortages at launch and the high price tag. Sony definetly screwed up by including Blu-Ray in the PS3.
They could have done so much better if they had just gone with DVD-9. The 360 wouldn't have been able to build up it's install base without competition in the first ...

Thats why they havent tried to match the 360 in price. We all understand that the more consoles you have out there = the more games, accessories, services, and downloadable content you can sell.
But they can't afford to bleed themselves dry by lowering the price of the console to try to gain marketshare.

I downloaded the demo and played it with my kids last night. That was some wicked fun. Granted it was only 2-player split screen. But damn. I haven't had that much fun being so bad at a game in a while...
How can you hate on this bundle. For 50 dollars more than the MSRP of a 60GB Pro 360 you get 3 games and a guitar. So granted they aren't the best games if your an adult. But you can sell them, and the Guitar by itself almost makes the bundle worth it...
Damn I may need my sister's Sams Club account to get myself another 360 just for the kids.
There is only so much FUD the Sony lovers can spread. Not even they can overcome the fact that even though Microsoft did not sell as many consoles or generate as much income as they did last year for their Entertainment division, they still managed to be profitable in the Entertainment division once again.
The fact that they managed to be profitable with the price drop is even more positive news for the 360.
