The attention to detail that I have read about in this game reminds me of the relationship that Sega and Disney had on the Megadrive in the 1990s. Although the games difficulty might be aimed at children, I think that the game might deserve to attract an older following too as an important Disney piece of memorablia.

It's easy to see why the Xbox brand has been stereotyped as being about shooters. The original Xbox was touted by Microsoft as a big brute of a machine, all about the horse power in the engine, a way not only to distinguish themselves from 2 heavyweights, Sony and Nintendo but from their own boring PC image. Even though it launched with the superb Jet Set Radio Future (and moved in to the space vacated not long before by the arcade game style dominated Dreamcast) its marketing was sometim...

Frontier makes a lot of sense because Kinectimals and Disneyland Adventures are VERY distinctive games.

But I wouldn't bother with Insomniac. Ratchet and Clank is a mish mash of different genres, a dilution of platforming games it seems to me. Resistance might be OK but it's hardly something that no other studios haven't come up with.

I'd like it if Rare made a rival to Uncharted, only with the emphasis very much on platforming and puzzles sol...

XIII got high reviews upon release and I quickly stopped playing it because it just wasn't substantial feeling enough. Unlike Jet Set Radio or The Wind Waker, the cel shading did not significantly add to what was like a Goldeneye homage.

Half Life Episode 2 was good but maybe there aren't more calls for Half Life Episode 3 because of the boredom of Half Life Episode 1. Just bring out Half Life 3 instead.

Grim Fandango , like the later Escape from Monk...

This comment from Naughty Dog sounds like it was made not only by someone who has only played games for about 5 years but from someone who has only played the PS3 with its general concentration on cinematic games.
Speak to Rare or Nintendo or even look at some of your older games (Crash Team Racing has lasting appeal as a racer) about prizing ideas as much as graphics. The PS3 might not be there yet, if ever, but the N64's definitely been there with the likes of Banjo Kazooie- id...

I've never played a Resistance game but it just looks like you shoot aliens a lot in environments slightly reminiscent of Half Life 2 / Max Payne 2. With Rage out, maybe that took some sales away. At the end of the day, if you haven't got an incredible hook like Bioshock Infinite you can't expect to necessarily deserve to set the world alight with sales. In terms of artistic importance, it's all macho rubbish really, as symbolised by the grisly skull on its cover. For a game o...

I think that Uncharted 3 is going to get a few 8s. The desert does not necessarily promise as interesting an environment as the other 2 games. I think that in time Uncharted 2 will be looked upon as the pinnacle by most.

Even if I was a great fan of this kind of aesthetic - B-movie space marine basically - I wouldn't necessarily be displeased to see it 'only' get 8 out of 10.

Who says what constitutes a game being worth 9 or 10 out of 10? What if my idea of a 'perfect' game of this nature is one that is very different from the type of game that Gears of War 3 is? I might have some very precise requirements about what I like to see in a game e.g. that I always like it to ...

True I have only played a few minutes of GTA3 however tell me some part of GTA3 that absolutely relied on it being in 3D rather than 2D for the game mechanics. I now read that GTA3 came out as late as 2001 making it even less revolutionary than I though because I thought that it had come out in 1998. By 2001, there was the aforementioned Jet Set Radio, there was Fear Effect and Max Payne and there had been huge adventures like Banjo Kazooie and Resident Evil. All GTA3 did was change the kind ...

From what I've played of GTA3 it still seems to be a 2D game in its play mechanics. It's a bit like Crash Bandicoot in that respect. The third dimension adds considerable detail but it doesn't add to what you can do in the game that wouldn't be possible in a 2D game. This is shown by the fact that you can switch to a 2D view in the game if you want to. Whereas Mario 64 was truly 3D. In a way this makes GTA3 more of a disappointment than the 2D games because in those you were a...

Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast / Gamecube) was miles better than Sonic Adventure.

It looks like Super Mario Galaxy is better than Super Mario Sunshine (SMS is a game where the hub world is a lot better than any of the levels although Noki Bay is quite good).

I like this review. The thing is, I found the original Perfect Dark game too difficult to get in to so I appreciated the ease in which you could get in to Perfect Dark Zero. But I also saw that it was a different kind of game - it was not trying to take on the likes of Half Life 2. It was just a colourful, rather limited, arcade game really. If that is what people like they will love it because its lack of pretensions and its , as you say, 'campy' storyline is a very arcade thing. It&...

So we won't be seeing Banjo Kazooie in it. It's not that kind of 'Rare Collaboration'.

It doesn't take much of a gamble to say that I think that this game is going to be fantastic. With the skyrail idea giving it more levels to access and the appearance being sunlit as well as dark, it may get higher scores from many sites than even the original Bioshock.

This is far too simplistic an article. It implies that games went from being like primitive 2D cave drawings to detailed 3D games with nothing inbetween.

The truth is that, especially when the 16 bit age came in,
2D games looked increasingly sophisticated and colourful and some examples from the early to mid 90s still look great now. A game like Another World from that time was a good example of an experiment in blending a 2D with a 3D appearance.

Maybe I haven't played as many games as I think I have but I can barely remember any other character dying in any game that I've ever played. It wouldn't move me because videogames are generally about following one character and everyone else is just incidental to that- you don't always know other characters' full stories and you might not think them worth spending too long mourning for if you did.
And you know that, no matter how well drawn they are, they are jus...

If I didn't have the pre-rendered splendour of the REmake to compare it to which transcended the idea that it was a B-movie, I might have regarded Resident Evil 4 as a bit of a cult B-movie masterpiece. But instead it set the wrong tone in me. I know that it was meant to be creepy but the creepiness that I often got from it was for the WRONG reasons. Stuff like having a giant statue chasing you- it was predictable and kitsch. And monks with mounted machine guns in the middle of a castle -...

Yes I can see that it makes sense that it will be called Xbox 720. Anyway I've got to be off. I'm going to play the sequel to San Fransisco Rush 2049. It's called San Fransisco Rush 4098. It's a law that people have to double the numbers in their games when they release sequels. Then I might watch that new channel that Channel 4 have launched- it's called Channel 8 of course.
If it is actually called Xbox 720 I will eat my hat. It is incredibly unlikely to be cal...

The Secret of Monkey Island - you manage to talk underwater.

Sonic the hedgehog- you do a loop the loop for the first time on Green Hill Zone. Represents when videogames became theme parks.

Aladdin - Megadrive. Best moment is just playing the first level and realising how true to a cartoon it was.

Super Mario World - a giant Bullet Bill comes racing towards you. What more will this game bring?? Sadly nothing quite as exciting- we had to...
