It is more then that, Sony will be shipping phones with the Android OS and of course you have Google TV in 2011 with Sony being a major partner on that. With the PS3's install base Google TV and Chrome could get a huge market share boost overnight. That and the Life With Playstation is powered by Google, also the Facebook stuff as well. Thats like saying why cant and independent Film get film of the year. You really need to be a major title in any media to get that kind of award. I don't think Limbo or any other network game should get GOTY, not seen one that has blew me away like the larger games. If anything they should have a Downloadable Game of the year as well so it is only competing against games like itself.
Ya the numbers look very off. I know Halo 3 is over 10 million and I though CODMW2 was over 10 Mill on the xbox as well. That and MGS4 is in the 4-5 Million range.

Thats how it should be. Betas cost are not cheep to run and in alot of ways can turn users off from the game. That and Sony has a crap load of games they can use to push PS+ with the beta. KZ3, U3, R3, Socom 4, and others. They might as well deliver on the promise of betas for plus users. I do see them still giving it out to people maybe a month after or something. I feel the AC beta might be for PS+ users as well, correct me if they have said otherwise.
Like I said, they plan to show off KZ3 MP at GamesCom, my guess is they will have a beta announcement during that. After all GG are a EU Dev. No need to comment on this from Sonys end if they plan to announce it in 3 weeks.

Ya it is going to be hard for it to make much of a dent in COD, I hope I am wrong but this year is packed, and early next year is just as bad so not like they can delay it for a better time.
Not true, Griff Ball came out of Halo, Mazes and other complex puzzles. Yes it is just a FPS but the users where able to take that and make more out of it. In MLG we made little training rooms to practice BR strafing and other critical gameplay elements. Trust me when I say the users took it beyond what was given to them at face value.
With that mentality anyone could say LBP is just a side scrolling platformer.
That is going to be a problem for any content driven service. Now that they let you know in advanced it should not be too much of a problem. I think after a few months we will start to see what kind of content we can expect.
Side note, you think they will now and then re-discount past PS+ items in later months, I see that being a way they can get around the running out of content problem. I don't see how PS+ can keep going like this for 3+ years unless they now and then ...

Both LBP and Halo gave users limited tools and they both bent and broke them to get what they wanted and both community made things even the Devs where shocked to see. Far Cry for the Xbox and PC had even more amazing tools, too be honest even Forge 2.0 is behind in what it could do back in that day. I remember it being very popular. Is it just me or at this rate won't they be out of games very fast? I did the math and the PS1 and PSN games are going to get burned though quickly same with older DLC content like KZ2, R2 and so on. Be nice to get a discount on like the BFBC2 DLC or even Uncharted 2, something a little more meaningful and relevant to the current times. To an extent it is, I saw some very cool stuff with Halo 3's tools and just like with LBP2 and Halo Reach now that the tools are much better I expect to see much better content from the community. With that say it is true with just about any game that gives you an editor. Mod Nation is the same so was the old Far Cry if any of you can remember back then. Its almost like a console mod community if you will. I'm a huge fan of features like this.
If we do see one it would be announced at gamescom is my guess being they plan to talk much more about the online aspects of Killzone 3. I hope PS+ users get it first, same with Socom 4 and other betas.
Ya for all we know the new Assassin Creed could be game of the year. Its never good to jump to conclusions. I think Reach will be a contender but anything more then that right now is just speculation. I personally am rooting for Starcraft 2.
