Bethesda are one of the few studios that have enough influence in the market to force change. I believe (in terms of average review score) they are one of the most successful single publishers.
They are a successful business, they are in the industry to make money and all decisions made will be to that end. We don’t know what is going on behind the scenes at the moment but Bethesda will not be ‘calling Sony out’ on a whim. This is a planned strategy that no one but Bethesda knows the...
Maybe they have upcoming changes to services (game pass & play anywhere) and they want to announce those changes before makinbany specific games announcements.
This is actually good news for me. Personally I have no interest in Battle Royale, I want a well made campaign.
I assume you also refuse to pay for services such as Amazon Prime and Netflix? Rotating content on subscription services is common practice and is likely based on stats that Microsoft utilise highlighting number of downloads or something similar.
I subscribe to this service, the price per month is minimal for most people who have some sort of income and with the recent (ish) announcement that first party will be avaliable day one (yes some wait but with recent studio acquisitions/cre...
What a ridiculous comment. How many pc’s Will run this at 4K 60fps on high settings? And how many of those pc’s will match one x and be avaliable for the same price? You get what you pay for and console deliver a fantastic experience when compared to the cost.
I love these games, and am excited to play them.
More exciting is the future, it is obvious that MS is serious, investing in studios, striking deals with publishers for timed exclusivity and getting Japanese publishers on MS stage is message that they are committed and investing.
We won’t see these benefits until next gen but they have made as a good a move as they could have and for me the MS conference was the best conference for gamers. (Irrespective Of platform)
@consolegamer
Will they look best on everyone’s PC?
Not mine, or most of the pc community (if steams metrics are to be believed).
Great show imo. The games were fantastic. Yes a lot were multiplat but tbh if the shows only showed 100% exclusive games where would the multiplats be shown!
Microsoft invested in this show, getting so many games in their stage is a message that they are committing to Xbox.
New studios are further cementing that commitment and whilst this investment will be a slow burn it will pay dividends next gen.
Of course they are not going to catch up with main competitor this...
After seeing EA conference they are also moving in this direction.
This is how the gaming industry is going to shift in my opinion.
Cancelling would make no sense.
if the game is released and is very good as a result of delay then I am all for it and it is the right move.
Uncharted 4, which turned out fantastic had it release date changed 3 times I believe and there have been others that have benefited form being delayed.
the game may turn out to be not very good in which case bad move from Microsoft and developers.
I would hope that this delay is a result of the mostly negative feedbac...
I am one such fan
I have an Xbox one X and enjoy playing on it but the platform most definitely does need strong single player games (like the plethora of games that PS4 has now and planned for the future).
I agree that online games might generate more revenue over the extended life time that people play them and they are not going anywhere.
That being said, there is definitely room in the market for these and single player (as Sony has proven with fantastic sales for single player games).
...
ESO had a rough launch with less than stellar reviews and I believe that it is now doing pretty well after various updates and changes.
I have a One x for multiplats at the moment as they are pretty much all better on the system. I will be getting a PS4 for the exclusives.
I find it strange that people completely forget about non exclusive games when making these remarks?
BC is not the reason a play my one x nearly every day!
@finalfantasyfanantic
They did have great BC but improving older games to the extent that Microsoft has with BC is something that other consoles have not done to this level before. Microsoft has done a LOT wrong but credit where it is due, the BC programme is a success.
I’m not talking about exclusives etc which it is obvious they have failed on.
I don’t think this can be compared as Microsoft are doing BC better than it has been previously on any console.
I agree with this. BC is nice and tbh I am actually enjoins going through the Gears Of War series from the start and they have held up well at the higher res (gears 1 is the remaster of course). I have always had Xbox since the og and must admit some of why I will continue to have one is emotion (my best gaming memories are from 360).
That being said I will be getting a pro also for the Sony exclusives ones the price drops a bit.
Microsoft really need some single player AAA ...
Fair enough, poor analogy with the Ferrari but my point is sound.
A PC that can perform at the same level as One X is not a little more money, i'm not talking about spec matching, actual real world performance matching, as consoles will typically outperform a PC of the same spec due to optimising.
I believe it would be double the cost or very close to and that is no small figure.
For me it was the original Gears Of War. Other games have made me think ‘holy crap, this is amazing’ but the first time I saw Gears it was breathtaking.
