Microsoft allowing games to run on both gens is no different than the scalability we have seen on PC for years. I have played gears 5 on my home PC (which is not a gaming pc) on low settings just to mess about and the One X version looks like a game from a different generation by comparison.
Sure compromises would need to be made such as fast travel loading due to lack of SSD and lower graphical presets but how is it different from a game running on the newest graphics card on a pc w...
Because it was written into the contract between themselves and Sony when Sony paid for exclusivity on the reveal of the engine.
It no more than a business transaction with stipulations that both parties must adhere to.
Halo 4 campaign was excellent. I personally do not care for multiplayer (outside of co-op) and so a strong campaign is all I am looking for.
Microsoft does have the most powerful console. It's not a debate, it's a fact. The PS5 does have some fantastic specs and the SSD is obviously a strong point but it will not be able to match the visual fidelity that Xbox SX will be able to offer.
That all being said, the quality of the games is of course the most important aspect and this is the hand that Microsoft has yet to show.
@Kingthrash
Not many people will/do have a pc that is as capable as the Xbox Series X. If you compare the Series X and Microsoft's stance on gaming to the same time around the Xbox One it's night and day difference. They will take some share and everyone will benefit. Competition breeds innovation and improvement .
@vux
Sorry Vux but you are quite wrong. I have played games on both Pro and X and the vast majority of multiplats look and play an lot better on X (in my opinion) normally much higher res and more stable framerates.
It's nearly 2 tflops. Not 1.3
How much of the 825 will be available for gamers to use? 750? 6 next gen games?
2 tflops is more than the PS4, it does make a difference
The presentation was awful. It was wooden and lacked and in front of a fake audience. The Microsoft reveal, showing the console, physically tearing it down, showing games felt a lot more "for the consumer"
I have to agree with this. Microsoft has (I think, I'm no expert) a significant power advantage over PS5. The "Reveal" was a lot of "Features" and it felt like excuses as to why it was weaker than the competition.
Price is going to be a big factor here, if it is simiar to Series X then it is not offering up good value.
If Microsoft does have another, weaker box that is chepaer then I think they will start in a strong position.
To be honest, 50 mins in, this has been a pretty awful annoucment. I think it is clear that Series X will be able to deliver much better visulas, especially with the on board Ray Tracing.
Or they need to redirect talk to themselves. And away from Microsoft. Either way it will be interesting
@mandingo
You wouldn't be able to run xsx games with standard HDD as the games would be designed around the speeds of the SSD.
This is to be expected and Sony will have to implement the exact same thing.
@TehDiTH
If your playing on Windows then Microsoft already has your money. Either you bought the OS or you bought a PC with the OS installed. Either way, they have your money and your in the eco system.
@WiiU-Dube, @Kumakai
It's unbelievable that the person who claims that he would resort to physical violence gets more likes and less disagrees than the one who states violence is not the answer.
Really says quite a lot about the caliber of people who take the time to leave feedback / comments on this site.
@Promachos
What percentage of units sold have failed? Just wondering what "high failure rate" means in terms of numbers.
@tiqila
I couldn't see where the unit numbers were revealed in the arrival? The websites merely stated how they measure, they don't actually say "in terms of units it is in position x".
For something this pricey and premium to sell the equivalent to a third of DS4 would actually be really impressive to be honest.
I doubt this is the final design and form factor. If it was this form factor then it would add credence to the alleged lower specs than the series x as this would limit how much heat could be produced as expelling said heat would be more challenging.
I may of course be completely wrong as I'm not particularly well educated in the thermal dynamics of consoles etc but it is what sprung to my mind upon seeing this.
Where does it say that the rest are console exclusive?
Is Demon Souls an exclusive? I didn't catch that.
