Long story short, if you don't keep your PS3 up to date because you play it, like, never....then What do you expect?
The thing that really gets me is, is these same whiners and complainers of this "issue"...they seem to NEVER learn any better....like basic common sense passed them by in grade school.

I didn't play MGS2 or 3 (I had a Dreamcast and PC for 6th gen), but I clearly remember MGS1, and it had tons of cut scenes that I never complained about.
I mean, if you see an MGS game, shouldn't you expect that by default?

Saying the PS3 couldn't run EQ2, a 2004 MMORPG, when there are already MMORPG's on consoles RIGHT NOW, and have had them since 2002 on the 300mhz PS2, that's really just disingenuous.

EA not only loves consoles, but EA seems to favor the PS3.
Bioware doesn't, but EA is the new sheriff in town and pretty much calls the shots for them now. Good, because businesswise, Bioware isn't all that bright, which is why EA owns them now.

But I believe PS3 is MY device, I OWN it, and I have the right to turn it into a toaster if I want to.
So anything that brings back the OTHER OS that was taken away from me and other PS3'ers, I'm totally for that.

Not all PC game players are using Steam.
Approx 50% of the computers are still using XP and many of those people using them feel no need to upgrade.
Plus, alot of people are simply using other devices for their needs that used to be reserved for PC use...Cell Phones for example.
PC Computers won't die, really, but they certainly are converging and morphing into other devices....consoles included.

Apple Iphone User Agreements still say you can't hack them....but guess what? You can now per the DMCA amendment.
Just because you sign or agree to something doesn't make it legit, because said agreement or contract may be fallible or legally egregious.
Nevertheless, this OTHEROS removal thing has turned into a nightmare for Sony, and it is far from an ending dream at this point.
You can hack devices to give them new abilities and apps.
Also, while piracy is a crime, hacking is not.
I can hack my PS3 and turn it into a toaster if I want to, there is no law against that.
In fact, there was a recent law that clarified the language about hacking cellphones so you can get apps, homebrew, and other functionality of said device.
One last thing....TOS's are not "be all, end all".
But Yeah, the iPhone ruling SHOULD and probably will apply to the PS3, and rightfully so.
I mean, if I want to turn my PS3 into a coffee and toastmaker that makes me breakfast every morning at 7:00am....I totally have a RIGHT to do that, regardless of the practicality or even the logical efficiency...ITS MINE.
I do hate that the PS3 could potentially become seriously pirated though. I really enjoy the the system and the piracy could lead to other problems.....
