It's odd too, since most of the team at Respawn when they were Infinity Ward left Activision to have ownership of what they make, have actual creative freedom, and not having to worry about not getting paid/royalties.

You realize that if all games "left politics at the door" many great franchises wouldn't exist, right? MGS, Wolfenstein, Call of Duty, Bioshock, Deus Ex, etc. all have political undertones in some way and without them, the games literally would be lifeless, specifically the ones I mentioned.
