While I agree with there being a certain magic with the older Halo games, I disagree with Halo 2 being the last good one. Halo 3 was absolutely amazing, had probably the most fun in gaming on Halo 3, though I could say that about Halo CE and 2 but I digress.
Reach was great as a standalone with every feature in one package (Bungie's swan song), Halo 4 had a very well written campaign just the gameplay wasn't up to par nor was the level design and MP was bad by Halo ...
Actually, the Halo 1-3 formula was never given the proper chance to die. No Halo game after 3 plays like the trilogy after including sprint and spartan abilities.
Which is usually the best way to go about it with bigger games like this. Generating massive hype way too early has killed so many games this generation.

I agree, but at the same time, up until the Scorpio was announced or the spec reveal rather we were continuously getting PS4 is the most powerful console for like 3 years.

Yeah the Dualshock 4 and the XB1 are perfect in basically every way. Going from one to the other doesn't even throw me off like it did going from a 360 pad to a Dualshock 3.
