I played some of this in May at an event and have really been looking forward to it. Great title, but into the backlog it goes...
As a title that is predominantly played by children, a physical cartridge gets them playing straight away, without having to negotiate PSN. It also gives the retail stores a physical presence for a game which is still a very big deal.
My local GAME store has more space dedicated to Minecraft than it does the Vita.
Also, the game is constantly evolving and having features ADDED. If you class that as under development then that's your opinion. For many it&...
Sounds incredibly bizarre, yet interesting at the same time.
Great review Charlie, I've taken a break from Borderlands 2 to get a bit of this going and I'm having trouble putting it down. It's on PS+ for June so everyone should give it a look if they have Plus.
Great review Brad, I have been looking at this, but I'm also looking at Mech Runner, which is very similar. Are the controls something you get used to?
Everyone had better buy this, or the fabled #jrpgvita will flop at the first attempt...
Good to see progress and news on this.
Great news for getting the younger crowd involved and interested in the Vita.
Not good news for me, with this and Minecraft my kids are going to either want my 1000 or their own Vita's.
An announcement so stealthy that everyone seems to have missed it, or chose to ignore it so that it can be said nothing is coming for the Vita.
It would have been nice if Sony gave more mention to this in the keynote. Looking forward to this one, BL2 on the Vita is great, despite the niggles.
A younger audience assault is a great idea at getting more units into retail stores, and gain some confidence there.
It's all worthless though without any marketing or advertising, luckily the UK has its fair share of TV coverage but this needs to be replicated around the world. Make some noise, tell people what the Vita is, you might actually shift a few more units.
Disney Infinity 2 is a great move, hopefully this will inspire Activision to start thinki...
Wow. Stull so much hate and negativity.
Yes, the Vita has a massive lack of "big name" titles, but from what we know, the big names it has had did not sell particularly well. The Vita suffers from a lack of awareness and advertising, this is it's biggest Achilles heel and Sony have to do more. But this is followed by a lack of vita owners actually putting their money where their mouths are. There are many outstanding "big name" games to play. Although ...
Did it upset you when the exclusivity ran out? That "coolness" that 360 owners have had for some time is now (or soon) available to others.
If you don't thinks it's cool now, that's your lookout and good for you. Me, I'll just lose too much of my life on the Vita version. Although that might be a bad thing.
Phones and tablets are the future of portable gaming?
What AAA titles do you love on mobile then?
The Vita will continue to be supported in some capacity for a long time, in my opinion. This report identifies that despite the obvious public issues with the device, it actually makes them money. It's a big part of their plans with remote play and PlayStation now, and an excellent medium for indie developers.
Whilst many of us want more for the device, these avenues alone will keep the Vita running for now.
I seriously doubt that the Vita will get anything more than 10 minutes in the keynote, although the presence at the show may be alright, as it was last year.
The third party publishers have no interest in the Vita, and until that changes we are going to have to make do with what is coming. I'm actually happy with that for now; but many aren't. Sony needs to up their own A game though to compensate.
They have dropped it. The only people still banging on about it are people on the internet.
I've said this for a while. I know the PS3 has more units out there, but Minecraft is arguably the only system selling indie. Had the Vita version been completed first, released in December and bundled we would be seeing a more favourable attitude towards things.
Minecraft: Pocket Edition has shifted over 20m copies apparently, and to be fair, it is pony. With buttons and as a more "complete" version, this is going to shift. If Sony market it, of course. But tha...
Reports suggested that Most Wanted and Declassified sold around or just over half a million, before the Vita's first birthday when it was estimated that the install base was around 3-4m. These publishers want silly numbers in return.
Wasn't it said that Destiny needs to smash 15m units just to break even? That's why we not only won't be seeing AAA third party Vita titles anytime soon, but why the AAA gaming model isn't that viable anymore.
People readily dismiss indie games without considering that they generally débuted on the PC and were well received. These games are coming to the PS3 and PS4 too, and Microsoft wish they could get in on the action.
The only market that seems to deride them so much is the Vita.
Yes, we all expected the Vita to get more big third party support. It's clearly not there, but the big games that have released sold poorly. This suggests that either the Vita...
Pretty sure it'll be the 30th in the UK. PlayStation EU tweeted the 28th, but as it's physical we normally get stiffed until the Friday.
Great review Tyler!
This game infuriates me, but I cannot stop playing it, as it is so addictive. It oozes charm.
