Gonna be totally honest...this piece came out of nowhere, and it is a breath of fresh air. Nice to see something on here that isn't about COD,Battlefield, Uncharted, or whatever blockbuster is on the horizon revolving around guns and fighting..Other games and genres do exist and they deserve some attention.
I simply can't help but question if this reviwer understands what actually constitutes quality. Although there are some missteps in the campaign - such as the abrupt ending - it is clearly one of the most atmospheric, original, and emotional campaigns to grace a shooter in a long while.
With a post apocalyptic horror vibe, great voice work, excellent lighting, crisp game play, and fantastic action sequences...any complaints are nitpicks.
Same old rehashed, misguided arguments. Frankly, not only is the PC vs Console debate old, but it is also quite ridiculous. There are benefits to both platforms. Period.
Played on PC last night, played my PS3 this morning. Why isnt that accepted as reasonable?
I'm pretty darn stoked for Borderlands 2 :)
I agree with the Premise, but not all of the selections.
The Valve and Bethesda selections were, of course, a proverbial "shoe-in," but I think a few more modern examples would have been more powerful for the sake of the argument.
For example: Crysis 2 was "dumbed down" for consoles, and yet was still far better on PC. Metro 2033 is a beast to run, but on a high end PC it is arguably one of the most visually stunning titles ever.
Now that is quite the analogy. I'm still laughing at the idea off Pepsi Mustard.
Already told the wife to call the girls cuz I've got Chimera to kill tomorrow night and I'm just not available.
Been waiting for R3 for a while now and I can't wait.
Wonderful to see Resistance 3 get a great score. As a long-time fan of the series I am stoked to get my hands on the latest.
I think the only reason I am tempted to get this map-pack is the whole "killing zombies in space" theme. God I love killing zombies.
I might as well quote you here word for word. The nail...you hit it on the head. I give you bubbles.
@baker-boi
If you are telling me that an iPhone 4 has no appeal to someone who would be interested in a PSV than we'll just have to agree to disagree. ;)
And I wish you the best. Game on.
@ baker_boi
I'm a business man with an iPhone 4 and Tablet. I fully plan on purchasing a PSV. The idea that iPhones and tablets only appeal to one crowd and dedicated handhelds like the PSV or 3DS only appeals to another is laughable. I'm living proof, as are my companions in my office, that your assertion is incorrect.
The biggest problem is simply money. I'm lucky enough to afford a new iPhone, a tablet AND a PSV. Most others aren't, and ...
I completely agree. Unit sales are debatable, but I think the PSV has a chance at being the most critically acclaimed handheld ever.
I plan on getting one at launch.
And if the DLC is absolutely awful, anyone who buys it is out $30 for nothing.
Can't wait for Resistance 3.
Moving on, from the improved visuals and animations I have seen in the last two months in the Beta I'm not surprised the latest installment requires a larger HDD install.
@ xhedleyx
So...Steam and Steamworks hasn't been innovative at all? That whole coming out of nowhere and dominating the scene didn't take any brains or effort, right? Neither has Team Fortress, or the Left 4 Dead series - which they have doubled in size with FREE DLC on PC. And the Half Life series did nothing for anyone...right?
I agree with this piece that there is a difference between gimmicks and actual game innovation.
How can anybody tell? Has anyone here played both games all the way through?
Reserve judgment for post-release.
I can't freakin' wait! Been playing the Beta and R3 has all the right moves so far.
This feature is nothing new. The toshiba thrive has a full HDMI out that can easily and quickly connect to any modern TV. I've been playing my tablet games on the big screen in the living room for a while now...and guess what? It doesn't even compare to gaming on console or PC.
Its really just a fun feature, nothing ground breaking.
The casual gaming arena is much different now than when the DS and then wii came out. Casual gamers more than ever are going to stick with the simple games now offered on their ssmartphones and tablets.
Nintendo now needs to re-embrace the hardcore...who generally felt neglected with tthe Wii aside from a few titles. Basically, they are in a decidedly tough position; they are losing casual gamers to other devices and the hardcore gamers they need now have been
heavi...
