They are reading a twitter from a community guy at Guerilla Games over and over again because it is what they want to believe and they think it will somehow magically make the nine mission single player campaign longer than it actually was for at least five reviewers who played through it.
Did similar crying and bitching stop you from buying Halo ODST because it was too short and just an expansion pack? Did it stop you from buying Halo reach? Call of Duty Black Ops? Vanquish? gears of War 3? Hmmm? I'm just askin' because there was ONE HELL of a lot of crying and bitching about those games being short. Oh well. I guess it's suddenly okay for games to be fairly short now unlike then. Gee. I wonder why?
I dunno. Five reviews out of 21 so far (including the games now piece, which is not really a review) have noted a total time of around six hours for the single player campaign including the cut-scenes. I suspect that 8-11 is a bit of a slightly PR driven creative overestimate just as it was for ODST and Gears of War 2.

It's kind of like ODST or Gears 2, only in reverse. I think it likely that Guerilla is exaggerating a wee bit with their 'normal time is 8-11' hours estimate on twitter. I'd say 6 to 8 might be reasonable though. The beauty of it is, we'll all know for sure around the 22nd. :)

Except that's total bullshit. The Now Gamer article was NOT the only one that said about 6 hours including the 70 minutes of cut-scenes and 4.5 hours without. Out of 21 reviews I found four that said around 6, two that said eight, and fifteen that were vague or uninformative about length. Yeah and Halo3: ODST is a lot longer on legendary too. It still got called a 6 hr game and expansion pack that should be full price. Weird huh? Just admit that the game has a pretty short campaign.

I have to disagree about the multiplayer. It's not the most fully featured MP I've ever seen but I still had plenty of fun with it both as necromorphs and engineers. The idea that it somehow detracts from the game is pretty $#@#ing ridiculous.
