this franchise has a great and very successful history. I'm glad they were able to pull off a good current gen rendition of this great franchise.
Here again people need to realize that 'Sales' are the life blood of the industry. No 'Sales' no games. Studios want to make money and make as much of it as they can, the whole reason for a profitable business to exist. Bigger 'Sales' more money. More money = more games. This isn't hard to understand.
This is a great release for 360. Good for them, good for Bungie, good for gamers.
There was never a doubt that with the newly revised 360 and the release of reach, that it wouldn't be a big console mover. Big success for Microsoft.
I Killzone 3 will hopefully have the same effect for Sony.
Microsoft is beginning to build up momentum. I don't see things really changing from the way they are now before the next gen consoles release.
Comparisons between this game and GOW3 were bond to happen.
As to the comment about the ps3 gpu...first party developers have the Sony engineers and Sony's deep pockets to help them over come any problems that they may encouter and to help them with better implementing the CELL CPU to take over many of the functions traditionally performed by the GPU. Third party developers don't have this option. So for a 3rd party game to be compared to GOW3 is quite an accomplishm...
UE3 is a great engine. In fact one of the most widely used engines in the market today. Lets hope that Capcom can wrangle it to work well with the PS3 as, historically, UE3 and PS3 don't get along that well. I have confidence that they'll be able to pull it off.
HD.
It takes time to develop a quality product. Killzone 2 didn't come out over night and Microsoft shouldn't expect anything less from it's developers. I'd rather have a quality game than something just thrown out there to fill the gap ie ODST (terrible full priced expansion).
Quality over quantity any day.
Then ending to this game is very emotional. A life and death struggle of a very heroic character. Other developers need to take note of the story telling skills that Bungie has displayed here.
Sony pushing 3d this early really doesn't make any sense. In order for you to take advantage of this you'll need to invest in a 3d tv and the glasses to go with it. That's a pretty big investment for the average gamer.
Unfortunately Sweet Tooth is the best thing about Twisted Metal. Not one of my favorite games.
People always seem to forget that the driving force in any industry is money. Exclusive DLC for 360 prob just translates into this publisher realizing that they will get a higher rate of return on investment from 360 because it's quicker and easier to develop for which translate into lower production costs when compared to ps3. It's not about alienating a gaming sector it's all about money. Believe it or not that's why they're in business. To make money and make as much of...
Sure you work at Sony..(rolling eyes).
Well I work at NASA as a Rocket Scientist.
To say that games wouldn't exist just isn't accurate. Developers need to be given more credit than that. Given the talent that exists in the industry today I'm sure that ALL of these games would have existed without the existence of bluray. I have much more faith in the industry than that.
It's not unusual for a company to copy ideas from other companies that are having great success ie. xbox live---PSN, achievements--->trohpies,wi imote----move/kinect.
Unfortunately on this site it appears that should you say ANYTHING anti ps3 that various things happen, 10k disagrees, trolling notices, staff imposed comment restrictions, and the like.
This happens sometimes even if you're trying to be neutral.
This is a good example of how to do a multi-console release.
These comparison shots make the games look very similar. After all of this development time and money spent by sony for GT5, I would hope that these shots are selling it a little short. Otherwise I'm going to be very confused as to why it took so long to come to market.

I'm sure it'll be a very successful game but to say that it'll defeat Call of Duty may be a little optimistic.
