To be honest, nobody but Nintendo knows how much was in that second shipment (sent 2 or 3 days after launch), so either gii bro or hardbladestone could be right.
But since there are no stupid articles from Kotaku, or other fanboy blogs, attacking Nintendo because theres still plenty of 3DS stock on shelves, Id actually assume gii bro COULD be more correct.

The 3DS needs a full year, maybe two, before Nintendo thinks about marketing another console.
Its not about the Wii's short term life span, its about giving the 3DS a long term life span.

The second shipment went out within 24hrs of the first, about another 400k estimated.
Id assume the first UK shipment is primarily for preorders, but then you also need to realise Europe needs a few, aswell as Australia and NZ.
