As sad as it is to agree with this statement, it's very true. I LOVE old school JRPGs and there just aren't enough of them this console generation. With a few standouts like Lost Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles (and obviously Ni no Kuni) a "good" Japanese RPG experience is hard to come by. I'm thankful that some companies are still out there trying their best and giving old school fans their old school needs.
I get why speculation is a part of news in the gaming journalism industry, but it would be nice if websites presented speculation AS speculation and not fact.
So based on this article it should be assumed that the author has already played the game, which is impossible. Speculation post, I'll pass.
Honestly calling Episode 1 a "weak link" is a bit of a stretch but I suppose that within this gallery of amazing titles it would fall toward the tail end of my "enjoyment" list, and that's not to say that it's not enjoyable. Good review overall though.
And....this just proves that Darwinism is still a thing.
I was completely aware of the install prior to my purchase and took time out of my day yesterday just to clear space for said install. Calling it an outrage seems a bit dramatic. I have a 20gb HD on my 360 and yeah I had to delete some stuff but it's not like I can't get it back whenever I want, it's literally a download away. I'm not too concerned about it.
What!? Tom Chick has an incredibly low score for a game that has been rated very well from (most)gaming websites!? This has never happened before! Except with every game that is universally enjoyed. Tom Chick is a shock journalist, nothing more. He's made a career out of scoring well liked games with outrageously low scores. Nothing new here folks.
Oh look at that, a title that will immediately grab the attention of a large number of gamers who are nostalgic for and still love Final Fantasy VII. Looking for hits, I won't be one of them.
Calling out all of IGN's reviews is still very silly. Take every review from the author, not the website. Mitch Dyer (the author of this review) has been around the games journalism scene for quite a while and as far as I'm concerned he's very respectable. He seems like the type of author that doesn't write what you want to hear but writes what he wants to say. He is one of the few IGN staff members I have respect for and view his writing without a grain of salt.
I can't believe that "Halo, any level with the Flood" is not on this list. Hate the Flood, always.
Oh no! There's not manual!? Who cares? I mean really, I haven't looked at a manual within a gaming box since I was playing Sega Genesis games and my mom was driving me home from the store. Let's be real. When all is said and done you really don't care if there's a manual within the box or not, stop it.
"Having played the demo, it seems like a very fair score" is an oxymoron.
A 9 from Edge is practically unheard of, Borderlands 2 is a great game though...So good for them (Edge and Gearbox)
One reason this article is bullshit, the game isn't out yet and the author has not played the game that he is saying "sucks".
What a moron, I didn't even click on the article because it seems unnecessary. He has stated that Gearbox developed Duke Nukem Forever, which is incorrect. They just released a product that had already been made, kind of like a publisher. Ignorant author missing out on what is one of the best games that has been released this year. At least that's one less idiot I have to worry about in matchmaking.
Honestly when I saw the score and the site that it was coming from my first thought was "this has got to be written by Arthur Gies". And I was correct, I've always disliked him as an author and a "journalist". It seems that he has a knack for finding one thing he dislikes and then using that as a driving point in an argument against most games, but he sure as hell loves the Call of Duty games. I still dislike him and his opinions really mean nothing to me. I would ...
Hey man, you said you could post a dozen videos of the problems with the game. I'm still waiting for said post with said "dozen videos".
You said you could POST at least a DOZEN links to videos that show examples of the problems that you have stated. So far you have POSTED ZERO links. Please leave the links to at least a DOZEN videos as you have stated previously, thank you.
Can you please post at least a dozen links that would help back up your complaints?
My favorite JRPG is Final Fantasy 7 (FF7 being my first JRPG, ever). I figured I would post that to take some of your "Disagree" votes. :D
