So this article is basically saying what I've been saying all the time. The PS3 is just too hard to emulate and trying to do it by hardware will not only drive up the cost but could interfere with the PS4 hardware and cause heating issues and all other sorts of problems. Makes perfect sense to me.
What I didn't know was that you have to make a new PS1 emulator for each device which now that I think about it makes sense once again as the emulator has to be recreated to...
***"EA is the scum of the industry, they have outdone Activision by a large margin."***
I totally agree. EA is officially worse than Activision. EA has done so much injustice to gamers in such a very short span of time. It's unbelievable.
***"Why Indulge Hatred?"***
The same reason why people submit flamebait articles.
"Poking the bear"? He's plain trolling lol. It wasn't "poking the bear" when Kratos_Kills "brought Master Chief into it." I guess it's as you say "fanboyism leads to hypocrisy on this site."
***My Sony playstation 3 is also pretty cool, but I'm not a big fan of the fanboys it comes with***
Bet you love the haters it comes with... Hey that's another thing you can add to your list..
The console wars are serious business huh?
You hit the nail on the head yet again.
It's all about perception when it comes to review scores. People with the good/bad agenda do exactly what you described.
It also depends on how people tolerate "average." Some people only want to play top notch games meaning nothing below great. So scores in the 7s or lower would be seen as bad to them because they don't want to settle for mediocrity. Others that don't mind playing an "OK"...
Of course you do. Tomb Raider isn't PS exclusive that's why you prefer it.
The announcement is coming in a couple of months relax.
***"i dont see the point of being against a price cut"***
Everyone would want that obviously. Cutting the price no doubt makes your console more appealing, but as company that is already taking a loss on each console sold you want that to be one of the last things you do.
Who the hell is he to tell another company to take further loss on each of their product sold?
How about the proposition of Ubisoft cutting the price of their games? I wonder how the exec would like the sound of that.
***"Then why do PSOne games run on so many platforms?"***
Is this a serious question? Obviously because it's easier to implement and doesn't drive up the cost.
And this here folks is why there is concern for going digital only. Add on top of that microtransactions and we can see that the future looks bleak for gaming if this route is taken.
I know they want to limit gaming sharing I have no problem with that, but this is the very reason why we need physical discs to remain so that we always have a choice and don't have to succumb to a Publisher's whim.
@MikeMyers
The thing is those downloadable content were designed to run on their respective console architecture. I do agree that digital content should transfer over though.
***"They tell Sony they need to be more social to get with the times and then tell them how it could go wrong. You tell someone to do something and then contradict them when they do it. And if they don't so it they are old fashioned and can't compete."***
Eeeeexactly.
Wow good point and kudos for the FFXII avatar.
I don't see Valve as much of competitor to any of the big 3 right now to be honest. Definitely need to see what Valve's gameplan is with the steambox is gonna be before I can accurately judge though.
Starhawk, Twisted Metal, Journey, PSA Battle Royal, and Ni no Kuni all say hi.
@below
lol you trying to say Starhawk, TM, Journey and Ni no Kuni are made for the masses? If so then you fail.
I can tell you for sure that both use the same engine.
One of my favorites as well. Seeing this trailer had me reminiscing about the hours I put into this game. I don't PC game anymore, but I'm glad to see it's getting an HD makeover. Well deserved.
