You do know that they are making money on something they have no permission to use.
The problem is them promoting Nintendo properties without their permission making money.

Look at the 3DS. If it was for that Holiday 3D Mario or Mario Kart the 3DS wouldn't had taken off as it did.
If that the case then the 3DS would had never turned around if it wasn't for the price drop that followed post summer and the release of killer app Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. Which at this point the 3DS sales skyrocket for 3 years before slightly slowing down then going back up with Pokemon GO! effect.

Then leave it on the dock.

The media doesn't decides when a new generation comes. Every brand new system from any of the console manufacture that isn't a revision or add of their current is dubbed as a new platform.
