No brother i do not realize that but I do realize Cryengine was the first one to use realtime global illumination using their own method they used to call light propagation volumes and frostbyte 2 was the first engine to use realtime radiosity for the first time. If you talk about prebaked stuff then thats a different issue.
Crtetk has fallen a bit behind while optimizing cryengine 3 for current gen consoles while Epic , Frostbyte and others started working for more advanced tech. At least CryEngine seems to be an inferior product compared to the latest versions of 4A and Unreal Engines ....... The laters have adopted either ray tracing or radiosity whereas crytek is stuck with light propagation volumes ......
Wish Ubisoft understood this.
They will always be happy to hand their money to EA no matter what and every time breaking the previous record :P
Agreed. Another consolized game like Crysis 2 is what I don't want to see.
COD fans deserve nothing preceded by the word "new". LOLZ !!!
Oh bro sorry :D ur not nuts for sure. Apologies.
The writer of this article has gone nuts. Its true it takes a lot of resources to invest in graphics but compared to the games of the 1990s the competition in the graphics department has not increased much. At that time no game could have the graphics crown for more than a year. Crysis held the crown for around 3 years didn't it.
2012 may be nice for graphics but else the last few years have been a lil dull in the graphics department.
Frostbite 2 does use many features of DX 11 properly but still it doesn't use tessellation extensively. DX 11 will shine in Metro Last Light .... but alas it aint gonna be released in 2012 but War of Roses will certainly give us a glimpse of the true potential of DX 11 :D
I just hope the budget cuts and employee cuts at thq or doesnt hurt this game :-S
This is also good for PC gamers ... if they made the games for the 360 , nd PS3 ... they ud have been dumbed down .... now it will be less so.
Im all freaked out .... being a devout nVIDIA fan for around 12 years since the days nVIDIA released the revolutionary GeForce 256, nVIDIA losing this round is the last thing I wanna see.
I just hope they release the GK-110 sooner than later.
Its nice to know Prey 2 uses Tessellation , Partially Resident Textures and also Raytracing ..... :D :D :D
Im waiting for better fluid dynamics , spongy or soft bodies rather than broken glass or particles ......in the first metro trailer , the black and white one .... spongy things are shown ... and blood spills in incredibly realistic way...
War of Roses, Planetside 2 , Prey 2 , PROJECT CARS, ANNA, BIOSHOCK INFINITE, Says hi to you .......
@Up
LOL y not talk abt the other games i listed ?
Prey 2 uses PRT (DX11.1 feature) , Tessellation (see the developer interview taken by nvidia)
Bioshock uses Tessellation nd high res textures to require good enuf GPUs
Thats theoretical calculation only considering the pixels but that demo had other things running , like the physx effects and thats why it took 3 X 580GTX to run and if that type of graphics is brought to a game it would require even powerful machines due to AI calculations and other stuffs that were not there in the demo. So to run a game of that quality we need twenty times the power of a XBOX 360 even if it is well optimized.
Like if you think the screens are better than Toy Story 1 (1 not 2 or 3)
Ohhh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah .... :D :D :D
Nvidia would be a fool to require it , it wont be a requirement i can give u 99% garuntee.
Oh boy I just cant bliv my eyes.... we really have passed Toy Story 1 level graphics !!! remember i wrote Toy Story 1 not 2 or 3 .
If Crytek pushed the hardware with crysis 2 the way it did with crysis 1 ..... then crysis 2 might have looked like this..... !!!
