Crysis 2 has stairs ... jst compare the stairs and the light reflections within the stairs ....

Compare the bricks wth crysis2 bricks and the leaves of the trees hav much more poly than crysis 2 leaves but yeah in some areas like texture crysis 1/warhead is better

Looking back now, we have PCs that are an order of magnitude more powerful, and if our workflow is instead focused on explicitly on just... you build and develop on the PC, and you decimate things into a target for the consoles. There are things that I would do very differently.

For all those crytek fans :

Crytek bossman Cervat Yerli had this to say about the Crysis games: “Crysis 1′s intention was, if I were to play it three years later, it looks great. And it does, actually, it fulfilled that. But it made it difficult for entry-level players. So with Crysis 2, we took a different direction, and it backfired a little bit.”

Metro is probably going to be the frist game to contain tessellated foliage. Im not sure if everything on screen will be tessellated or not but according to Epic Games it will be possible to do that if GPUs can deliver 10 billion triangle per second. 580 can deliver 2 billion and kepler might deliver upto 6 so two keplers in SLI will be enough ....

Its a shame crytek did not deliver tessellated foliage even though they had enough resourse to do it.

@rattletop .... I was sayiing crysis acted as an advertisement for cryengine 2 but the graphics of crysis 2 no way portrays the ability of cryengnie 3 ... if crysis 2 was good enuf ... crytek ud hav been using crysis2 for advertisement but now as crysis2 graphics was inferior to crysis except for the inclusion of global illumination ... crytek has to use demos and screenshots .... to advertise cryengine 3 ... yeah to compete against ue3

PPl don give this developers respect ,,,, they r pushing the tech all the time but ppl r always talkin abt cry engine or bf3 engine .... that screen filled wth thousands of broken cars , the other one filled wth ppl .... gives us the idea of wht tessellation can bring

@Hired Help... dude u prbly hav some eyesight prb nd cudnt see the trees in crysis 2 ...... cudnt see that they don react to bullets as crysis 1 trees do .....

I really don undestand y ppl disagree .. crytek showed cool trees usin cryengine 3 but they din even bother to put those in crysis 2 .... if u ppl r happy wth a company teasin the engine all day ..... but i hav more respect for ppl like 4A hu come out of nowhere no hypin but does deliver ....

We should judge a developer not by their engines but the output of those engines .... cryengine 3 no matter wht it is ... failed to shine thru crysis 2 ......

I say again 4A developers dont get the respect they deserve ... they kinda did evrythin cryengine3 does but earlier ....

Prerendered nd realtime will never match but we could have reached Toy Story 1 level graphics only if Crytek pushed Crysis 2 as they did wth crysis .

Toy story has no aliasing cos it has 7 million polygons and uses supersampling crysis had 2 million per frame ... if they used extensive tessellaiton or if nebdy else does we will soon reach 7 million .... may be with Metro Last Light , Doom 4 or Stalker 2

Lighting is already better Toy Story did not use raytra...
