The problem is PS Now isn't offering NEW games like Ultimate Game Pass. Gears 5 for just 2 dollars. Oh look, Outerworlds and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night included and hundreds more newish games. Imagine getting, The Last of Us 2 for 2 dollars? Sony wouldn't do that.

At some point during the NES and SMS, 8 bit graphics stopped being fun. Sales were down. So they move on to the next bigger and better thing. Nothing stays the same. Graphics had to advance. It's evolution.
